Although I've already lost lots of weight, I still want to lose a bit more....a weekly weigh in would certainly give me the incentive I need to start again. So you can count me in also thumbup
And me, I've done well on my own, but now seem to have reached a plateau as I'm not losing anything else frown

Also want to give up the smokes and get back out running (although the lighter evenings will be condusive towards that wink)

Happy to post height, weight & measurements.
Even though I'm still on the smokes, I still get out on a fair bit of running (albeit on the treadmill - maybe 4 30 minute runs a week), but giving up should increase the pace/range.

Deffo up for this though, should help at least a bit.

Another stone - I've put three on and happy to leave one of them there (especially if it stays here I want it wink), I've dropped one of the two (where I want to lose it from wink), need to lose the other.

Di - if you are serious about wanting to do RFL, I'll do it with you - obviously, I can't train with you 9as too far) but will come to your local 'event' and do it - that gives us both an incentive.

On the tracking of our weight loss....I'll have a word at work and see if one of the boys can knock us up a nice Flex application that we can all use.

Basically be a website that would allow us to input our data on a daily/weekly basis and then graph it for us and maybe show a top 10 or top 20 each week.

So, did we decide what measurements we want to track?

I'll start off and suggest:

Date, Weight, waist size, number of exercise sessions taken

what else would you want to track?
OK, how's this-

7/4/08

Age 44
Height 6ft.0
Weight 16st.10lbs
Waist 43inches
Other - Cancer survivor on a low dose of Prednisolone (my excuse for eating pies)burger

Just did a 2 mile bike ride and can safely say I'm in the worst shape of my life. redface

I've just started the gym. I want to lose about 2 stone. I'm a bees dick shy of 12 stone, and I have a 35-n-a-bit inch waist. Doesn't sound too much, but I'm aloso 5foot4 (n-a-bit) so my bmi is not great. I think about 32-33 inch waist 10 stone and toned should do fine. I used to be 8 stone n'arf and 28 in waist, skinny as a fooker. Don't want to get there again! (nothing medical, I was just naturally skinny.)

AAAAAHHHMMM OOOOOOOOOOT, I read yesterday that by eating 5 squares of chocolate per day decreases the risk of pre- eclampsia in older pregnant ladies, I now have an excuse for eating chocolate and I'm not taking the risk of pre-eclampsia. biggrin (I had my last baby almost 16 years ago, but you can never be too careful hehe)

I think I would rather say how much I want to lose rather than how much I weigh.

I wouldn't mind joining in the race for life too - perhaps the PH ladies can work something out and do it as a group.

I'm back in again, apparently 5 squares of dark chocolate does not equate to one Twirl.

Are the meetings going to be like this?

I hope you bunch of sadists are going to support me through this -especially as I've just forked out £70 on sodding trainers in the hope I'll get back into running.

That gives me an idea. How about a target for everyone, something like a PH Snowdon meet? A steady walk up the mountain is good exercise.

I think thats a pretty good idea. The only downside I see is it will probably mean an overnight stay, which will mean going out to eat...and drink.....and then drink some more.....can you see where I'm going with this yet? wink

gym this morning at 7am, not much cardio, just lifting weights.

That was fun though I did them till my arms felt like they were going to burst, so I'm still sore almost 24 hours later.

Looking after mum's miniature poodle while they're away, unfortunately the little sod has an escape route in the back garden, and used it when I let him out for a pee, so chased him for what google maps tells me is the best part of 4 miles on foot, and still didn't catch him.

Can I add the lost poodle to the total amount of pounds lost?

I fear I may lose a few more pounds tomorrow when I get beheaded for letting the little fluffy bag of wind and pi$$ escape in the first place.

back to the gym tomorrow, might look for the dog again in the morning, doubt it's worth bothering given the speed he can run.

Yes, it's really worth getting a good heart rate monitor. One where you can set you age, weight etc as it will calculate calories used, I don't think they are totally accurate but still very helpful.
When I compare mine with the readout on the machines at the gym they differ by no more than 10% so that's good enough for me.

I'm in.
Currently 92Kg and 1.82M tall and rather saggy so could do with losing about 10Kg. However, currently have BP of 178/128 (4 weeks ago it was 197/128) so have to ask the Doc' if I can start exercising without risk of explosion.
Very keen to get in shape for the Summer though. smile

You don't have to drink, it is optional. No harm in having one as a reward every now and then. Same with food, the odd treat is fine.
The problem for me is when I keep treating myself every day. If I open a bottle of wine and have one glass it is too easy to have another, and another etc.

The most important thing is to have motivation to achieve something. I use this. It may sound silly/strange but it works for me.
How would I feel if I had to strip down to my underwear and look in the mirror now? Then I magine how I will feel when I reach my goal?
I use these feelings and emotions to get me out of the house walking, running, down the gym. I also use this when I am thinking about having some food or alcohol.

It take strength and self control to succeed. It would be so easy to be weak and give in like the majority of the population do.

So who's up for a walking meet. Could be Snowdon or there are lots of great walks in the Lake District. Ben Nevis? The Peak District? Apologies to people down south, I am rather biased living in Nottingham. I am sure there are some good walks there as well, Chiltern Hills? South Downs?
