Just to reiterate, those at the beginning of their weight loss - remember that small, permanent changes that you continue for the next few years will do you much more good than crazy crash diets that you'll abandon when you're at your target weight, only to see the weight pile back on.

Keep going, it will be worth it.

Took me a fair while, but I started off somewhere around your weight and am now a slightly less wonderful than I would ideally like, but still very, very much better than I was 85kg.
I still might not be too impressed by what I see in the mirror, but compared to what I was, it could be so much worse!

Bit of weight put on, 122.1kg now. Not too unexpected, had a few crap days at work so did a bit of comfort eating. Back on it this week, week after will be tricky as off work and it's my birthday, hoping for a good week this week to make up for it.

Right, time to get back on it. Having seen a photo of myself recently, I don't like the way I've let myself go in the past two years. I'm back up to 120kgs, drinking far too much, and not watching what I eat at all. I'm happy in myself, but hate the way I look.

First to go is the booze. Unfortunately I think I have a bit of a drink problem, not that I'm dependent, but I can't have just one. I drink every night of the week. So, Tuesdays and Thursdays are now gym nights, and I have a gym buddy to make me go. No pub either on a Wednesday, that will be car night - will spend the time out in the garage having a tinker or polish - might actually get a few jobs done. I'll also try to slip in another gym visit at the weekend.

First gym visit was last night, went well, eased back in slowly. Eating healthily starts again today.

Main reason for doing all this, aside from trying to avoid an early grave, is that I'm heading away on December 18th on what will be for me a bit of a dream holiday. Not looking for the perfect beach bod, that isn't going to happen, but I'd like to be able to look back at the photos and not cringe.

This time though, I need to keep it up.

Down from 17.10 to 17.3, so half a stone gone, aim is 15 stones exactly, only 31 pounds to go biggrin

That half a stone makes a difference in how stuff fits and how I feel, god knows how people at 25 stone plus feel, feel sorry for them must make life a lot harder as even at 18 I felt crap and it slows you down.

Anyway, given myself until next July to get to 15, aiming for a pound a week, a realistic target which I have already beaten but it will slow down, then I will see where I am and perhaps tweak it a bit.

Its a bit strange as am weight training at the same time, so may lose five pounds of fat in a month but gain a pound of muscle in the same time so need to account for that, hopefully wont lose any but not sure how it works when there is a calorie deficit.

Started in Feb at 20.3 st, getting over 20st was a real shock.

Now down to 17.5 st which is great but still a long way to go. I haven't really lost anything at all over summer and really need to get back on it.

I started mountain biking at the beginning of the year and one of my biggest motivators is making it easier to cycle up hill. I really notice the 3 stone difference and hopefully the next 3 stone will improve it again.

Wow, good going, keep it up, you are pretty much the same weight as me, last one to fifteen stone buys the beers.

17.1

However, I think really I need to be nearer 14 stone than 15, prob about 14 and a half, so 36 pounds to go.

It may be just me or not, but I found I lost it in a lumpy way - shed a decent slug, lose little for a while, lose a chunk etc.

The real hard part for me is losing that last bit that really makes a difference, looks wise (yep, vain, but having been proper lardy, so what?).

I know I'm still not 100% committed and so no angel, but still look in the mirror andfrown.

I am pretty committed but I did have a night out and got hammered, had a burger as well, but back on it today, dont go out that often.

You are right about it being unpredictable, sometimes you work reall hard and nothing, then slip and it comes off.

Well done chaps smile It's great to read your posts, spurs me on to do some good for myself.

Following on from my post above, I've stuck to Tuesday and Thursday gym nights, and have noticed a massive improvement in my fitness. Last night I rowed 2000m non-stop in 7m54s, when I first started a few weeks ago, I was stopping every 500m for breath. That was after 12km on the bike, and 10 mins on the cross-trainer, so I am getting more physically fit.

Still drinking probably too much, but I'm slowly cutting that down.

Watching what I eat more as well, lighter lunches, smaller portions. Just being more sensible on the whole.

Haven't done a weigh in yet, but given how I feel, I'm quite optimistic there will be a couple of lb's gone.

Keep at it, I am being pretty strict, no booze through the week at all, and only have some if I am going out, cut out sugar pretty comprehensively, no sweets, chocolate, biscuits, cakes etc, even managed to go sugar free on my morning Porridge which seems a strangely big deal to me, I think I have trained my palate to spot sweetness at a lower level, milk seems fairly sweet so that is enough for Porridge and stuff like Shreddies, which I used to stick sugar on seems really sweet now but tasted like cardboard without sugar before.

One thing I have noticed, is that "little J4CKO" is more eager in the morning than previously, put it down to age creeping up but probably booze and being too fat, anyway, TMI perhaps but I think us chaps need to be frank, its important.

Nothing wrong at all with a night on the beer and a burger/kebab/pizza afterwards. If anything, I'd say for those of us who aren't granite willed in terms of no alcohol, several hours pd in the gym and chicken & broccoli for all meals 7 days a week, it is actually a good thing. A bit of a break, something of a reward and kick-starts the unhappy metabolism.

Or, just do more movement, other health considerations aside smile. Which is what I do & while I'm not getting any fatter, I'm not getting any better either frown.

Sudden and inexplicable 16.11 on the scales this morning, I did have a couple of Whiskies last night, might be a bit of dehydration or just the randomness of weight loss.

This exactly matches my experience, seems like being an IT bod its like when you delete data and then shrink a database or empty the recycle bin !
