Good for you, a friend is doing this You do know if you post up pics you wouldn't live it down. Unless you become really, really toned. Anyway, good luck, am off to do some exercise now. I would never post pictures... I'm not that stoopid

I would be up for this as I have a bit (LOT!) to lose, also have 2 kids so finding the time to spend in the gym is hard.
Anyone else have underused exercise equipment.... I have a rowing machine in the garage thats not seen any use for a while.
I am not keen on the pics idea but a regular weigh in and posting would be good.
Cheers, Jon

missdiane said: I'd rather not be posting photos though- a photo can look different depending on angle, I would post measurements and weight Actually that sounds like a much better idea No pictures then, just measurements, we just need to decide what is being measured. (Do girls measure their Chest ) - We'd just need to assign a start date not less than one week from now
- Decide on what is being measured. Not sure, but Id guess waistline, biceps and chest? Most probably, not everyone will be seeking to build muscle (I would be) rather just loose a bit of weight. I assume waistline is measured around the belly button?
- Tabulate up a list of candidates
 - And then add weekly or biweekly measurements, to proove who is lord and master of the Gut Challenge
The actual stats would be best posted in a format where we can easily view everyones at the same time, and at a glance get a good idea of their Starting Measurement (then measures in between) and Curent Measurement. And, %increase in bicep/muscle, And, %decrease in waistline, And %decrease (in most of our cases ) in weight. And perhaps a figure which represents the overall change as a percentage. We're men. There has to be a winner edit: We could have a thigh measurement for the ladies... Suggestions on which areas are best measured? Feel free to suggest a more intelligent or better measuring format(!) I was never into measuring myself when I did work out.

Yep, I am game.
Gave up smoking, put 4 stone on, was assured it would only be temporary,
That was ten years ago ...
(mind you, I did substitute Dunhills for Walnut Whips on a 1:1 ratio)

Sorry, not good at old money, that's about 9kg. Well done, your doing it the right way to keep it off i.e a steady consistent rate instead of crash dieting. Try filling a bag with 9kg now and spend the day walking round with it. Heavy isn't it. That's about how much I aim to loose to be at peak condition. Have you thought about entering any other races to keep the motivation going and give you something to aim for. I've got my name down for the Notts half marathon in Septemeber as a target.

Glade said: I signed up to check it out, but cant find the tracker/graph page. I suggest we devise a system which doesnt require signing up to a third party website. Id be happy to accept weights/measurements via email fortnightly, and pop the data into something or other which presented all stats on everyone, on one single page. Even if the page was just an exported .jpg file. Might be easier that way, although Im open to suggestions.

If you are monitoring and recording fitness would it be an idea to include blood pressure and resting heart rate.
I find it helps to keep records of all exercise and all food intake and plan meals in advance.
For me the exercise bit is the easy part, my food intake during the day is ok as well but it's my addiction to red wine and cheese that's the problem.

Mrs Fish said: Not really, I am having problems with my left hip already Don't think I am cut out to be a proper runner What sort of problems MrsF? Are you perhaps doing too much too soon? Regular massage (deep tissue/sports) is very beneficial if you are putting in the miles. Make sure you have proper running shoes too which have sufficient shock-absorption. You can get assessed at Up and Running in Nottingham and fit you with the most suitable shoe for your running style.

Although I've already lost lots of weight, I still want to lose a bit more....a weekly weigh in would certainly give me the incentive I need to start again. So you can count me in also
