I managed 33 for the test... then watched this video (thanks for that link!) ...

I couldnt ever do pushups until I saw this video and realised I was sticking my arms out to the side and therefore doing it 'wrong' according to this techinque. Now I find them quite easy.

Can still only do 25 max mind.

...and realised I'm doing them wrong (elbows out...) so I'll re-try the test tomorrow and do them properly! Doh! smile
Just watched stand I am doing them "wrong" as well. But he says doing it wrong is really bad, but doesn't explain why. Is it less efficient (i.e. harder to do)? or more likely to cause injury? or just that he doesn't like it?

I'll give it a go, looks interesting.

Fairly confident I could do around 30 on the initial test, but would love to be able to get to 100
I underestimated myself, 37! Still feeling the effects 4 hours later though

Having super wide elbows is more risky for your elbow and shoulder. It’s not very efficient either.

I do 60 in a minute every morning, don't think grinding a 100 out would be too much of a problem
I do bodypump twice a week and have built up pretty good strength and stamina in my chest and shoulders

I have a shoulder injury that may have been worsened as a result of doing lots of pressups.

I now need to tuck my elbows in quite tight to avoid problems.

I doubt that many people are doing pressups with good form or going low enough.

Indeed. A sagging lower back is the other common sight in my gym. Must be painful.

Ditto. In My martial arts class we were doing 200 or so press-ups of various sorts interspersed with other stuff. Shoulder started to hurt - damaged rotator cuff and shoulder bicep tendon. Shoulder injuries take months to heal.

Indeed. Many months, although it is on the way to recovery now.

I suspect that years of leaning on my arm at a desk didn't help either.

I am going to be a bit more wary of doing g too much pushing and not enough pulling(rowing) in future.
