Okay so summer is fast on it's way and there is a good chance we'll be exposing body parts in natural light.

But how many of you are ashamed (or not) to get there manky feet out - possibly due to bad nails?

I'm not a proud or a vain man - but I dont get my feet out very often due to the big toenail on one foot that drives me to distraction... many years ago I caught it under a door but kept on walking so the nail dug into the toe. During that same year it also became stuck in a swimming pool filter as a friend pushed me into the pool. Hence the nail is a bit worse for wear.

I got given one of those Curanail kits and various steroid creams but its not done a vast amount, also (the worst bit and the reason for this post) the toe itches like I cannot describe!! I honestly think an orbital sander or a pair of bolt croppers is the only real cure.

I`ve a manky big toe nail which always looks longer than it is, is usually cracked on one side and has seen treatment to prevent it ingrowing. The gf refers to it as my "talon".

hehe

I've used mine to threaten The Other Half before. She is paranoid that coming in close contact with it spread it onto her.

I stubbed my toe and had a fungal infection for years.

Went to the doc, got some tablets and 3 weeks later it had gone.

(I had a rash on my arse/groin too so I suspect your visit will be less "embarrasing" than mine)

Another one with the manky big toe nail, been broken and smashed a few times and ow the nail is small and horrible.

Tried Curanail and creams, pretty sure it's not infected but it's still awful looking.

Can I also say this is one thread were we don't want pictures.

Would that stop the itch as well do you think? To be honest the appearance of it doesn't worry me too much... but the itch is unbelievable at times.

You know the guy on the advert that is itching his foot on the shop door mat? I've used pens/ knives / handtools / Ice... its honestly a nightmare that I wouldnt wish on anyone.

I've mentioned it to a few doctors and they just give me steroid cream that doesnt cure it at all.

On one foot, I have a big toe nail which was removed due to it being ingrowing, and becoming infected, but not completely killed off (complete bodge by NHS, which allowed the infection to spread), so it has grown back like a snails shell.

The toe nail next to it had to be removed, as the infection spread to it from the big toe, and is now no more than a sliver of nail. (done properly at a BUPA hospital)

The big toe on the other foot started to ingrow, and so I had that one removed to save me from the trauma of the above again. This is missing all together, and again was done at the BUPA hospital.

I got a fungal infection when I was in Australia. Mild toe aids. Got some stuff that you painted on, a bit like nail varnish really. It took ages, 2-3 months, but it did get rid of the stuff in there end, and didn't have any side effects, whcih apparently some of the tablets do. I can't remember what the stuff was called, but definitely worked for the purpose. And gave me the fringe benefit of painting my toe nails like a girl without it being gay, if that's your thing.

One of my fingernails is ridged and grows in a double layer towards the end, after I had my finger crushed playing rugby at school.

Oh... Good luck then!

Doc said tablets are last resort and very strong.

Christ my toes are a saga,

Both big toes were ingrowing so in an Alan Partridge disassembling a trouser corby press out of boredom similar moment, i took a leatherman and proceeded to cut down the middle of the toe nail and rip them out (both big toes)

This quickly got infected, had to go to surgery to have toenails removed, got infected again, (and both times stunk to high heaven i mean absolutely disgusting) just as it seems its clearing up, in cambodia, i stub my toe so hard on a ledge, the toenail rips itself off completely, and rather worryingly there is another toenail underneath!!! but its all manky and black.

Honestly, its disgusting now.
