Errr, does everyone brush their tongue? And I was the same when I was pregnant. Puked whenever the brush touched my tongue.
There isn't any chance of that your up the duff???
Use a smaller brush, a baby one even, as the bristles are softer, and should cause less gagging. Or use one of those tongue scrappers instead.

I know what I am letting myself in for, but recently my gag reflex has got a lot worse. I'm now struggling to brush the rear half of my tongue in the mornings without retching
Why is this, and how can I fix it.
No, I haven't been throat-fked or any thing.
What a coincidence. I find I have a really bad gag reflex when eating dog poo. Why is this, and how can I fix it.
No, I haven't been throat-fked or any thing.

Hmmm, I've been using the same brush for a few months.
I'll try the breathing through nose bit and brushing in another direction.
