Firstly, i am an ex smoker. I am not a smoking nazi and have nothing against it and i believe people should be able to do whatever they want to do.
But, when i smoked i was aware of how smoke breaks etc, riled up non smokers so i was careful to limit the time and frequency of them.
We have a designated smoking shelter in our workplace and the are probably about 10 to 15 people out of a workforce of about 60 who really take the biscuit.
These people (some worse than others) must have an 8 to 10 min break every 3o mins!
It has become a real meeting place and is beginning to get on my wick. They are basically getting a full time pay for a part time job.
Any thoughts on this? I do like winding them up! smile

This used to wind my dad up many years ago, so he used to stop work for ten minutes a few times a day and read the paper. When he was asked what he was doing he said he was having a smoking break. hehe

You like winding them up? Sounds like you're the one getting wound up.

Smoking shelters - the new meeting rooms rooms for the influential, in the know, important people in your company.

Which reminds me...

... time to sneak off for another one biggrin

Very true.

Smoking is not a right! And I dont care what people say, its a choice! People don't deserve smoking breaks. I dont get a drinking break, or a sleeping break.

If you want a cigarette...fine...smoke it....then get back to work...don't take the piss!!!

I'm a smoker......and even I can't stand some of these people. They should be docked an hours pay from each day.

Same thing happens at my work, all the smokers get to go out and have a fag at least once an hour on top of breaks and lunches. Unfortunately since the boss is one of them, not much gets done. Perhaps I could start taking fresh air breaks when I feel like it?

I work with VDUs and get a 10 minute break every hour or a 20 minute break every two hours.
