i'm not fit enough to keep a decent pace up for 2000m yet, but I can do 1000 in 4mins. After seeing some of these times i'm feeling a tad embarassed now though!

My gym has a strange machine though, whereby the resistance is provided by a waterwheel rather than a fan. Will have to look at what the resistances mean.

Dammit. I hate how this "getting fit and losing weight" malarky takes so long!

I'll have a go.

I usually do 5k though for a better cardio/fat-burning workout.

The C2 website recommends a much lower resistance.
However, I agree just keeping it to max makes comparison easier.
Right, as promised, just come back from a cardio session.
08.14 at level 10 - so way off you guys!
I'm 1670mm 75kg and 42 - so, short and getting on a bit...byebye

Fastest 2k is about 7min 23sec, although I have not regularly used a concept 2 in along time.

I just crank it up to level ten, it reperesents rowing a big boat.

I prefer the "5k heave"-as I call it, best time level 10 was 18min 27.3 sec, I nearly died. I started out wanting to do sub 19min to beat my old record of 18min 54, then I just went for it.

Put the hammer down. It was bad, but I have been out of rowing in the gym for along time. I did a 5k row lastweek and was struggling to get under 20min-bad times.

I injured my knee quite badly in stupid accident, so i had to give it up for about 5months and my fitness went down hill.

Anyone tried the pace boat seting on the C2. Might try it to add a level of competition, which might improve my time if I set it right. Bad time last night 8:35 Drag Factor 90. For comparison 5ft6", 40 and 67kg. Suspect knees and iffy lower back.

I like the pace boat...never had it when i used to row but looks quite cool.....i always found the best way to take away the pain was to do lots of mental sums to calculate what i was on track to do - and if i was off track what i needed to do to get back on track.....at least, i did that until the last 1.45 secs when i managed to get the knack of holding off my "second wind" until that point, at which time i would let the "wind" kick in - best feeling in the world, i'd get goose bumps all over and the pain would vanish - i never found the last 60 secs and issue due to being so "high" at that point - was fun (in muck about gym comps, etc) to be racing someone is is at deaths door with with 60 secs left (and been allowed to get a little ahead) and then to just start pulling 1.15 splits while yellin "welcome to row school" at them (with hindsight....i may have been a bit of a cock smile )

oh....and your physical stats - if you can row fast, i'm a grand national jockey wink

Funny how you put "been a cock" in the past tense and then finished the post like that.

Up to a week ago I was going eyeballs out with 200m to go. Now I find I can go from 300m out! It's a bit bizarre finding the last 100-200m the "easiest". I could finish even faster if I had more trust in my back and knees.

I bought a C2 10 days ago on fleabay, first time on one since gym 15 years ago when I would do 9.16 (an easy one for me to remember) as part of a circuit training. I did manage a quicker time a few times but they wouldn't be much under 9 mins.

First time on it level 1 2000 metres 12.46 and I have been on it every morning and now got the time down to 10.43 which is a fair achievement for me and I realise it's not up to a lot of the other times you superfit guys posts!

I wouldn't say I enjoy it or look forward to using it but having it right outside the shower room helps me feel guilty if I step over it in the morning without the 2k workout.

Well found a new way of torment on these infernal machines. I initially thought the repetitive 500m were a good laugh, but now i have a new lung buster.

1 min on and 30sec off. Do the first one as fast as possible use that as your target, and try and remain as close as possible thereafter. Mine today was 320m in a minute then the remaining nine all above 300m. The phrase that springs to mind is that it's utter death. However i did kind of apply a bit of brain power to save my legs over the remaining 9. The way i did it was to fast cruise to the 30sec point and then nail it for the last 30. Seemed to work and felt like a good work out.

Handily there is a program on the c2 machines for this.

I have never tried level 10 eek

I do level 5 and try to do 2000 meters in under 10 mins which I think is a reasonable cardio hit. I actually managed an 8 1/2 mins the other day, not bad for someone only 5 weeks back into going to the gym, I hope paperbag

I did a 7.26 once but a shoulder injury (the first one) meant that I had to do longer distance (5k or 10k), taking it easy.

Just getting into weight training again but haven't rowed for a while.

For the seriously quick rowers, what's your lowest pull (if that's the correct term)? I think I did a 1:10 but i'm a 5'8" dwarf hehe

If you were digger i'd point out that it was joke based on how unsuitable i am for horse racing (being huge) in the same way he is unsuitable for rowing.....being short and with an iffy back. However, as your not him (and i assume not his mummy)...i'll just chuckle at your slow times on your ye olde water wheel contraption.

Do you mean what's the quickest 500m split off of one stroke?
