I did a 7.26 once but a shoulder injury (the first one) meant that I had to do longer distance (5k or 10k), taking it easy.
Just getting into weight training again but haven't rowed for a while.
For the seriously quick rowers, what's your lowest pull (if that's the correct term)? I think I did a 1:10 but i'm a 5'8" dwarf
Do you mean what's the quickest 500m split off of one stroke?Just getting into weight training again but haven't rowed for a while.

to be racing someone is is at deaths door with with 60 secs left (and been allowed to get a little ahead) and then to just start pulling 1.15 splits while yellin "welcome to row school" at them (with hindsight....i may have been a bit of a cock )
oh....and your physical stats - if you can row fast, i'm a grand national jockey
Funny how you put "been a cock" in the past tense and then finished the post like that.oh....and your physical stats - if you can row fast, i'm a grand national jockey

I used to have it on 8 for 5k or 10k sessions.
I think I read on the Concept 2 website that somewhere around 4/5 is similar to being on the water.
Mmmm, that's interesting, I always though they put them on 3 for the Concept2 open. I'm off to put it on 5 to see what happens, I've never tried that!I think I read on the Concept 2 website that somewhere around 4/5 is similar to being on the water.
i've always found anything under 10 felt odd....like peddaling too fast on a bike when you run out of gears. I once did 500m competition at a gym (i was very out of shape, not seen a gym in a year, 21 stone...fat...looked a mess) The guy told me not to use 10 and that "all the rowers here use 6"......anyway, i used 10 - he said i was daft till I went under 1.30 with no warm up (he didnt see me puke in the changing room after )
Well with the power set to 5 I just did 7.25. I haven't done this in ages, been doing running for the last year, using the C2 for warming up for gym mostly.

Can we just clarify, just in case nobody else has mentioned it;
the 1-10 scale is NOT a measure of resistance as such, think of it as a set of gears on a bike where some people push a larger gear (10) in order to go a set speed relying on greater torque and some people use a smaller gear and rely on high cadence to reach the set speed. You should set the slider at the level that best suits your strengths, if you are a big lad with crap lungs stick to 10, if you are a smaller lad use 5-7 with a higher cadence as you will produce less power on the stroke.

Totally agree, it shouldn't make it any harder/easier it's just that certain settings suite some people and not others.the 1-10 scale is NOT a measure of resistance as such, think of it as a set of gears on a bike where some people push a larger gear (10) in order to go a set speed relying on greater torque and some people use a smaller gear and rely on high cadence to reach the set speed. 6:38 - level 4 - (I'm a short arse under 6 foot and the wrong side of 30). - Not a bad time considering I only recently started doing it (and first time was about 8:20 something). - However I think the energy drink helped.
I'd wager you are 5'11"? Thats a very very good time. Actually being just the wrong side of 30 does give you the advantage of mental strength? . . .discuss. . .Digger said:
