The PowerTrainer. I am going to attach a fingerboard to it at some stage. I have my own climbing holds so will make a customised fingerboard that has me heading towards A&E in my own customised way. I need to see the PowerTrainer in the flesh to decide if I can build something around it.

BTW you interested in a sit-up bar? (The sort you stick under your door.) Got one you can have FOC (well, I might nudge you to make a donation to Help For Heroes).

Pullup challenge? My PB is 100 in 11 min 30 sec; this was back in the summer when I was fit (and a stone lighter), now I would struggle to beat 15 mins.
Just done this Animal, 10min 58secs for 100 heaves (chin-ups), to be honest caught me out as thought i'd just smash 10 sets of 10 every minute but have trained fair bit today.

5 x 10 Overgrasp Heaves, 5K Row, Plyometric legs, press ups, ropes and abs.

Going to give that 300 a go tommorrow.
Sounds like a good workout! I can see I'm going to have to starve myself to become lighter in order to match your sub-11min time...

How are you with burpees? 100 in 7min 30sec?

Good luck - I think you'll be happy with it. I know it's fine for what I need. Will pass on the sit up bar (but thanks for the offer) - I use the bottom of the settee or the gym biggrin

Cheers mate i'll do it fresh next time rather than after a workout, is it Burpees with a jump onto a bench or just the normal squat thrust with a jump?

World Gym Challenge is on 07 Feb 10, you should turn up mate.

hehe well, I don't bother with sit-ups as I prefer other exercises.

I'm sure I'll be happy with it. The reason why I want a fingerboard is to strengthen my "crimping" and forearm strength for climbing.

Oh, I emailed the inventor of the bar. He said it was fine to put a fingerboard on it as per the picture and that putting squares of cloth or old socks over the bare areas was fine.

Squat thrust with a jump, but go down into the bottom of a press-up before bringing the legs forward.

Will have to google this World Gym Challenge thingy!

Okay Dokey bud, for a bit of a hang out on Burpees use a bench (about 5 stack on a Reebok step) place hands on bench do normal squat thrust routine and then two feeted jump onto bench as fast as you can, much more of a challenge and good plyometric work out.

Am now a fat bd, put on 7 lbs in the last month to take me up to 14st 3 (I'm only 5'10) so my aim is to get fitter and lose weight.

I'm already familiar with the gym, so I know what needs to be done, its just having the willpower to do it, and say no to that chocolate biscuit / beer / wine.

I'm a similar weight (14st ish) but only 5ft 7. Trousers have expanded from a 32" waist up to 36" over the last couple of years (married life lol).

Planning to make a concentrated effort to get fit again and drop the old cholesteral levels down.

Er, I mean, how you doin'. (That's to Nat not you, Will.)

Edit: crafty minx has changed her profile pic. Cute but much prefer previous slightly blurry pic. (Or was that me going cross-eyed from staring too much?)

I was going to think of something witty to say, but all I can think of is 'motorboat', sorry.

Like the idea of burpees up onto a bench, will try this in the morning!

So did I. It arrived yesterday - very pleased with the quality.

The door frame that I tried it on did creak rather ominously though biggrin

ETA: I have modified mine slightly by wrapping the bar with rubber - bit sore on the callouses otherwise.

This year I have a couple of aims.

I started an office job in the Autumn, having previously done very active employment.

I've already noticed a change, particularly due to the timing aswell ( before Christmas period).

My aim is not to turn into an office-fattie. I am very aware of how easy this could be.

2nd aim.

I am a very keen mountainbiker - but now my legs and aerobic fitness are held back by my core strength. To move onto the next level of cycling fitness, I need to do something more structred than just cycling a st load. I need to do something 'extra'.

3rd aim - related - my personal favorutie iteration of Dalby forest Red Route, in under 2 hours 20 minutes.

PB is 2hours 30, done over a year ago and its slipped a fair bit since.

Big girl! I'm only protecting the frame from damage. I'll be attaching coarse lumps of wood and resin!

Anyway, as they say, you snooze, you lose. The weather beat the courier driver so he couldn't deliver it today. frown

I heard exercise gets the testosterone going, Will... I think you need to ease off on the PowerTrainer.
