Resolve my today's gloom.

I remember when I was a 32"

I thought I was a 34"

Today I had to accept i'm a 36".

This is not a good start to the new year. Bugger off snow, I want back on by bicycle.

Right, 2 stone off before the end of March.

Don't use the snow as an excuse. If you want to lose the weight, get a gym bike and pedal indoors. Once you start making excuses (I've got a party coming up, the weather's been crap, I'm too busy) you'll find it easier to not bother. I see this all the time with my students.

I've even less of an excuse - the bikes set up as a turbo trainer, so it's ready to go. I just need to get over flu which has hung around since the day after xmas and is still not gone. I used to have cold triggered Asthma so I am mindful of going from +20 to -5 or so until my lungs are cleared of gunk. I really miss the cycling - usual stuff; got busy and one day what was routine wasn't blah blah. Everyone's heard it all before etc. It wasn't that long ago I was cycling 400 odd miles a month all weathers. I am after a Gieves and Hawkes suite soon, and I am only going to buy something handmade when I am in the size I want to be!

Ah! Probably still achey then. I can't remember if you're supposed to exercise with a cold/flu or not. I do it anyway.

Since everyone else is derailing this thread with all this nauseating fawning over a internet picture that is more than likely from a lorry driver called Keith I may aswell join in.

If you post a picture of yourself with a loaf of bread balanced on your head then I might be inclined to believe that the picture is of you, until then and given all the xxx lol xxx I think you are trolling.

Also you look mighty young to be an Audi dealer?

Can we get back to fitness now? and save this sort of crap for the lounge please.

Left arm and shoulder currently fked again from over-doing the old climbing thing.

Edit: I knew it'd kick off on the other thread but I was late and had to go out so didn't get a chance to warn Nat, so if you're reading this, sorry, Nat.

Had an excellent work out tonight. Squats and yep, you guessed it, pull up's - all types, jumping ones/negatives/kips the lot. This challenge is ON. biggrin

At the moment Im not doing "as many as i can", I'm doing single rep sets, interspersed with lots of negatives etc. Apparently its a better way to work up to the number I want. Doubt I could do more than 5 dead-arm ones though. But it's coming. Oh yes, it is.

Ah, kips looks like you could seriously ruin a shoulder or two!

Negative and jumps - negs I thought you're supposed to control the decent anyway; jumps... useful for climbing practice.

When I have built my fingerboard, I'll have to let you have a go.

Yes, the kips look "interesting" - although it appears to be how most people end up doing pull up's (using assistance from the swinging motion)

Negatives - yeah, couldnt really get a good vid. Hold for 10s at the top, then from top to bottom in 10s. The jump one is good as the bar is about 4" higher than my full stretch, so I have to jump up to get to the bar, i just keep going as in a single movement.

All good fun smile

One thing I like to do is "lock off" at different angles of pull up.

Have you two heard of the Bartendaz or Hannibal? Think some of their exercises might be useful for building climbing strength. Have a look at these beauties:

It's frightning what some of these guys can do - Hannibal is unreal!
