Slightly O/T but I've been using protein/recovery shakes for the purpose of trying to reduce recovery time (and pain) for running and mountain biking.

I've read somewhere on the Zipvit site that Whey Protein is "perfect for reducing body fat when taken with exercise and a sensible diet". Is this true? Does high protein diet and excercise actively promote fat burning?

I am getting leaner, but then with all the exercise I'd expect to anyway...

^^ That doesnt say anything new. Take too much of them and of course its going to be bad for you - drink too much water and it'll be bad for you as well. Everything in moderation.

Nobody bother with Maximuscle stuff? Ive found it by far the best tasting and best for bulking, even if it is a bit more expensive than MP equivalents.

If you have a healthy diet you don't need extra protein, unless you are trying to bulk up.After a run it's glycogen that needs replacing,so within 40 mins of finishing have some bananas or other carb source.

2nd for boditronics, IMO one of the best brands out there. i know a bodybiulder sponsord by maximuscle who secretly swears by boditronics

as for maximuscle its a complete rip off, a tub of there protein (promax i think) last me a week frown boditronics express way about a month for the same price

I do it tastes lovely and seems to work well, saying that due to the price when I run out I'm going to try the cookies and cream yum.

Guys, I placed an order with Boditronics for 3 little sample packs, I got cookies and cream, raspberry ripple and dark choc orange.

WOW, in 5 years of training I have never ever had a protein shake that tastes that good, I am about to order a huge tub of the choc orange, simply divine cloud9

Just found this thread and hope you all don't mind me taking it slightly OT...

After too long out of the gym I've found the motivation (it was behind the couch, covered in dust) to crack on and get back in shape.

The sites mentioned on here look like they've got the goodies for bulking up and recovery however can anyone give the thumbs up with regard to fat belly busting shakes / fat mobilisers (if there is such a thing)?

I'm giving myself three months to drop a few kg and rediscover the six pack that's been hiding behind the keg...

Thanks for any pointers and sorry for the slight off topic.

Cheers,

C.

" fat belly busting shakes / fat mobilisers (if there is such a thing)?"

There is no such thing as "fat belly busting shakes"

Neither is there such a thing as "fat mobilisers" unless you count your feet....

when you do exercise.

People like protein drinks largely because they've been convinced by marketing hype that

it's what they need to undergo some kind of physical transformation. Most people who have commented on this topic

do weights and will be in good shape. Most of them will also not have a defined six-pack.

This statement is deliberately disingenuous...

After a workout your muscles need protein to repair themselves.

Exercise DOES promote fat burning BUT it will still do that whether you

are on a high protein diet or not.

Yes there are, you can have natural fat burners which basically increase your metabolism like green tea/caffeine etc.. or you can have the not so good ones that inhibit the fat from attaching to anything in your guts you st out great slimy turds.

Also you have the not quite so natural fat burners which is ephedrine and the like so strong stimulants basically.

Actually I would say most people on here seem relatively knowledgable about the subject and I think would say it is the convenience and speed at which you can get your protein in after training which is the main benefit.

Impressive you know about 'most people' on here given that you have only been a member for a month.

Bales - does the time I've been a member on PH have any bearing on whether or not I'm qualified

to speak on a subject? Thought not.

Green Tea? You'll see lots of gym goers drinking that.(never seen one because it's a gimmick)

Also controlling what you allow you're bowels to absorb should only be used in the short term,

as a good diet is a far better way to achieve the same goal, and far more healthy.

I made no comment about when to take protein, but after a workout is good.

Bales + Animal obviously you're in excellent condition so why don't you show everyone you're sixpacks?

Let me guess..."I don't have to show a photo of my abs to prove anything to you"..blah blah bullst.

Go on boys...

Bluff called.
