The waiting is the hardest bit
Discussion
I'm so sorry, Russell. Lily floated away on a fantastic cushion of your love and devotion - even from here that is obvious beyond question. And for that at least, I'm glad. Nobody could hope to be more fiercely loved than she was... or than you in return, I'm sure.
Hopefully, you have already endured the hardest days and nights, barring perhaps this one. Don't forget that we're all out here cheering you on and will help however we can.
All the very best
Becca

Be strong, we are all here for you....
Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am in a thousand winds that blow,
I am the softly falling snow.
I am the gentle showers of rain,
I am the fields of ripening grain.
I am in the morning hush,
I am in the graceful rush
Of beautiful birds in circling flight,
I am the starshine of the night.
I am in the flowers that bloom,
I am in a quiet room.
I am in the birds that sing,
I am in each lovely thing.
Do not stand at my grave bereft
I am not there. I have not left.
Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there, I do not sleep.

I am the softly falling snow.

Sorry to hear this, best wishes Russell.

Russell, your eloquence at such a time is beyond me but testimony to the love you share. Pleased Lily is no longer suffering and that even in her last moments there was meaning for you both.

This says exactly what I was thinking but couldn't find the words.Gary
Rest peacefully Lily. Russell, we're all still here for you and wish you a peace too.
Thank you for letting us in to your lives and sharing with us the love and special times over the last few months.
Like most others I don't have adequate words.
But I'm sure like everyone else who came for that fabulous and noisy day out at the hospice, I can sincerely say that meeting Lily, and you, and reading this thread, has touched me in ways I cannot describe, and won't forget.
Love truly is the greatest gift of all, and I'm sorry yours has been taken from you, even though it is clear that your love for each other will never die.
I know you'll have much to get through and do in the coming weeks, but if you ever need a moment, some time away, anything, you have my number and you are always welcome to call.
RIP Lily, a truly bright star in this world.
Look after yourself Russell.
Much love
Gill

Russel your love for each other showed no bounds, that is evidently clear from your first post to your last.
Like some posting here I had the honour of meeting you and lily recently and that is something I will treasure, a very special lady and husband.
My thoughts are with you Russel in your pain at lily's passing, but I also know from that pain will be thousands of good memories that you can treasure for the rest of your time.
Lily may have gone from us but we will never forget her or you.
Your writings throughout this last 6 months have touched people more than you will ever know I suspect, you write with passion and love and a candour that like me has made people stop and take stock of their lives and sometimes realise what is truly important, for that I thank you.
Please do not be a stranger now to PH, and if there is anything we can do to help, just ask.
Rest in peace Lily.

Oh arse. After you posted "I'm not going to post again until lily passes away" I was hoping that we wouldn't here from you.
A little of me is relieved that the suffering is over for your wife, but a lot of me is gutted for you and your loss.
She held on and fought all the way with immense dignity and you have made superhuman efforts to support her. Both of you are truly awe inspiring.
Anyone for onion soup?
RIP Lily.
