Hi does anyone have a view on home testing kits for uric acid? Are they anywhere near accurate?

Was looking at something like this at £40

https://www.valuemed.co.uk/collections/uric-acid-m...

Basically getting through to my GP for anything is a complete and utter disaster so hoping I can use one of these to do it myself.

Cheers

The one I see most positive feedback about is the Benecheck Plus - I think you buy different test strips for different checks so it's not limited to uric levels. Amazon used to list it (I have one on my wishlist) but the links to them seem to be dead for some reason.

They might not be 100% accurate but I'd quite like one just because I like collecting data and if you treat it as something to compare levels with rather than it being as spot on as the proper checks it could be quite useful.

A year on I'm still avoiding most things, it's not as bad as I thought it would be but knowing I've got a nice safety buffer for the odd jaunt back into normality now and again would be reassuring, I'm just so keen to avoid the pain I was in before I got things under control.
