What are "Trap bar bent rows"?
I can't work it out...
It's one of these (also called a shrug bar)I can't work it out...
From Watson Equipment -

who have so much brilliant stuff visiting their site always makes me think about winning the lottery (anyone interested in Strongman type stuff who hasn't found them might enjoy a peek!)
It's great for rows as it lets me pull up higher than a normal bar and really hits the outer edge and lower part of my lats/back. Also fantastic for shrugs and high pulls.
I also use it for many of my deadlift workouts as it puts the plane more in line with the centre of the body rather than out in front which feels safer for my dodgy lower back.

Compared to barbell rows it encourages a different angle of pull with the elbows pulling back at an angle rather than just up and down which gives me a better feeling in my lats.
Still looking but you could get an idea from the video of a guy deadlifting with one here,
http://www.gymequipment.uk.com/store/item/36t3d/Sp...
just imagine the row instead! Plus there's a clip of shrugs and links on their site to videos of various other exercises/equipment.

So do you pull your upper arms past parallel to the ground?
I'm trying to envisage doing this with the bars around you:
Found a good clip on You TubeI'm trying to envisage doing this with the bars around you:
it doesn't look much higher (less than I imagine when I think of doing it) but if you look at where the end of the bar/plate holder is compared to the body line and imagine the difference with a straight bar I think you'll get the idea. Plus he gives some ideas about why he rates it.

Cheers . .
Here's another exercise I do with it - I love this one!

Four hours? Sure you're not injured?
Only just spotted this! No, it's not injury (I have enough but know where they are!) just the way my body reacts to hard workouts, esp. upper body. It might be age but I suspect it's because I only do weights 2 or 3 days a week so some shock value there.
As it happens it lasted all night and my delts and triceps are incredibly sore today, I always hope it's a sign that it's working?

Ah, I see where my confusion came from. I tend to touch the bar to my mid chest when I row - it wouldn't work with my form as is. Certainly looks like a good piece of equipment though, if a bit expensive for me!
If you ever get to a gym with one you can 'borrow' it might be worth trying it for a change - it really does work. When I do barbell row I also pull towards the chest until the elbows are about 90 degrees and pulling in a pretty straight line. This is more like pulling the bar to the waist/pelvic area a bit like the Yates Rows Dorian made famous. I do those with a bar as well but with the trap bar am more parallel and don't stand up so much.

Worked up to a 95kg pushpress; 5x10 100kg paused box squats; 5x5 70kg OH lockouts.
Showing my ignorance now but what are the 'lockouts'?Todays efforts- 18" deadlift, worked up to a single at 260kg (chuffed) then 5x5 Close grip bench with 92.5kg. Finished with 2x10 40kg DB floor to OH. (18" deadlift- bar starts at 18"[just below knee]- used to improve deadlift lockout)
