Tough break with the shoulder mate, could you stick to your boxing workouts for a few months and leave the weights?
I think I'll try some weight work but do so little these days it'll hardly make a difference. If it feels iffy though I'll stop as the boxing is way more important to me (and more fun!)Tough break with the shoulder mate, could you stick to your boxing workouts for a few months and leave the weights?

Something I've been thinking about for the last few days... taking a break from dieting for maybe a week and just enjoying myself.
I'm not sure I could start again after a week of indulgence, I'm pretty committed after a strict 9 weeks so far. It's not like I've been eating lentils and celery for the last 6 months, mind. Just that whenever someone offers me seconds, I decline it because I know I won't be able to eat later when I'm getting peckish again. Perhaps I'll have another think... or aim for 2000 calories a day (currently aiming for 1700).

A 'diet' for me is around 3000 kcals/day! Eating 'clean' for bulk around 4500 kcals/day. Back in the day when I was into 'mass at all costs' I did a three month period of 8000 kcals/day - absolutely horrific! At no stage did I ever feel hungry and had to force food down when it was meal time again! And I just got podgy.
But you shoulder press 1,500kg which means you can burn more calories (WD=F x d) ie you have a higher daily requirement than me. Michael Phelps eats 13,000 calories a day when training!Hoofy said:

13,000 calories a day! It would be intetesting to lay out a day's diet on a table just to see the sheer volume of that kind of food!I generally eat aroud 3500/4000 and it feel like a fair amount to me. 13,000 is just crazy.

I know! I suspect there are a lot of energy shakes in that. I just googled "michael phelps diet" and there are a few interesting articles. Unsurprisingly, it's not a diet many google for when looking to lose weight. "My name's Michelle and I tried the Michael Phelps Diet. I went from 140lbs to 350lbs in 30 days!"I generally eat aroud 3500/4000 and it feel like a fair amount to me. 13,000 is just crazy.

If you believe the hype, Scot Mendelson eats (or did eat) c.12,000kCal/day. Lots of shakes, 40 eggs, 5lbs of red meat, bowls of pasta and veg to maintain his 6'1" 25-stone frame. He did bench three times his bodyweight, mind. Jon-Pall Sigmarsson also apparently tried to average 10,000 kCal/day.I struggled to eat 2,000kCal today - I feel like such a failure by comparison!
Just worked that out at benching 477kg!

First session since the shoulder flare up which isn't as painful or 'bumpy' now, though still there.
5 mins running
1 x 5 min round speedball
15 mins of back to back rounds on wrecking ball and free squats (30 per set)
Finished with 100 'Linesman Squats with just the bar to get used to the movement again prior to starting to do weighted ones.
Shoulder generally OK but didn't hit hard, concentrated n constant movement/punching to burn calories and used twist from the hips/legs for the power but then pulling the punch as it touched the bag. Seems I'll be OK.

I've just tried this and it gave my uncorrected BMR at 1,782.09. My job is office-based and I train 5 times per week so applied a 1.55 multiplier: this gives me a maintenance calorie intake of 2,762kCal/day. If I tried to eat that much every day for a week I guarantee I'd be 2kg heavier and flabbier within 7 days! Here's the calc.

My average calorie intake on a rest day (like today will be 1,400kCal) and for an active day like yesterday (a hour's weights session in the morning and Pain Factory last night) I'll increase to 2,300.
Could I really be under-eating by that big a margin?
I have lost weight steadily on around 2000cals, I have had a few cheat days over the last few months but it hasn't slowed my progress. Kicking the sugar addiction has been a big help and also my very active job.
I went shopping whilst hungry today and decided on a blowout brunch of 6 chipolatas, 6 large back bacon, 2 fried eggs, 2 slices of toast and baked beans
