Really ache from bodyweight stuff last night. Feels like I'd been hitting the weights!

Plan was:
Superman 3xFailure (no rest between reps so arms and legs off floor the entire time but changing height)
Chest-to-floor push ups 3xFailure
Wide push ups 3x15
Plyometric standard push ups 3x15
Pull ups 3xFailure
Bulgarian hops 1x25
Bulgarian squats 4x15
Sumo squats 1x20
V push ups 4x15
Front lever raises 3xFailure
Toe-to-bar leg raises 3xFailure

Didn't quite manage it as was shaking towards the end and felt like vomiting.

Today starts with a standard
2 set of 20 pressups,
2 sets of 20 tricep dips,
200 sit ups,
before lunch another 200 sit ups,
then in the evening another lot of 3x 20 pressups,
3x20 tricep dips
200 sit ups.
Morning pressups are done at normal speed, the later ones I always do as slowly as possible holding each upper and lower positions for a few seconds.

On alternate days in addition to the above I do sets of 10 slow reps 17kg each arm hammer curls untill fail, the same with upright row, I need to increase weight but the rest of my weights are at a mates house in Cornwall.

Now its getting colder i'll be using my punchbag more.

Considering starting boxing again because nothing I do at home gets the same burn as I used to get sparring.

I had a good session today, despite being in the wrong gym for it...

DH OH Press 8 x 1 at 75kg
OH squats 3 x 3 at 60, 70 and 80kg - just loosening up really
Clean derivatives and then cleans up to a comfortable 110kg.

Also, shoutDidley! Where are you?

What does the 'DH" refer to in overhead press?

Doug Hepburn - An old lifter from the 50s I think. It's just the manor in which the sets are carried out, i.e. increasing the sets of one by one set each workout for each lift. Bit lazy of me abbreviating to DH tbh! I'm doing it with squats, DLs and bench press too.

Got you! After racking my brains, I gave up and posted the question but was half expecting to have a "d'oh" moment, but no, that is suitably cryptic!

Are those strict OH presses? Surely you can OH press more than that?

(that's a compliment btw wink )

My shoulders are far and away my weakest muscle group, always have been.
My 1RM strict OH press is only 60kg frown but I'm working on it, just doing lots of big singles at the moment.

Gym this afternoon - weighted pullups, weighted dips, standing military press, and did some squats for the first time since February - 3 sets at 100kgs for 5 reps. Got home and went straight out for a 10km hilly run. North Easterly gale and pissing down. Lovely. smile

Yes, totally strict. It's not my max, no. The idea is you lifts at about 90% of 1RM to start with and build up to 10 sets, from 4. Once 10 sets is acheived, increased the weight by 5kg and take the reps down to 4. 75kg is easy, I started trying at 80kg, but couldn't do more than a few singles. I think my max would probably be about 90kg, but I've never gone for an all out max on OH press. Its one of my weaker lifts tbh.

It sounds like slow progress but the idea is you do all big lifts twice a week. If you do this you and don't have to stop or slow the progress you should put 60kg on each lift in a year. I can't see it happeing that easily, particulalry with bench press and OH press, but I'll be very happy wity half that in a year for those lifts.

Interesting routine. Lifts being OLs and power lifts plus the OHP?
What rest do you have, 1 minute?

I think you can do it for oly lifts too, but I'm just doing DL, Squat, OHP and Deadlifts in this fashion. I think the idea is you soley do all your lifts like this, and just do the above plus one or two others but I like to do a bit more than that.

As far as oly lifts are concerned I'm more using a more conventional sets/reps but I'm not seeing a great deal of improvement so might DH them too!

Rest wise is about 2 minutes, but I sometimes have less if I'm keen, sometimes have more if I'm distracted. I'm not strict enough really!

On an O/T note, when someone quotes me and I read it back I notice just how many typing errors I make! Not good!

Raw bench press comp today.

Got all three lifts: 140kg, 160kg, 170kg.

Biggest lift of the day was 200kg.

Although I've not been hitting bench (or the gym generally) very hard, I'm slightly annoyed that I wasn't bolder with my selection of lifts as the 170kg went up without trouble.

There was a final bodyweight for reps event, at which I got 20 reps x 117.5kg. The winner got 30 reps at 97.5kg.
