We've only gone and done it! Even added another 5 minutes on at the end after the warm down walk. Chuffed isn't the word!
Nice one.

Have you got a park run near you or train up for a Xmas 10k.

Also look for a beginner friendly running club , its easier running with othrrscof similar speed.

Have a look at your diet next , reduce crisps, biscuits, suguar ,bread, potatoes and you'll see the weight come off which will lead to quicker run times without putting in any more effort smile

Bugger that, I run so that I burn more energy and don't have to be too careful about what I eat biggrin I don't tend to eat crisps or much sugar, but there's no way I'm giving up bread/potatoes/cheese in order to run faster biggrin

That's what i thought but a packet of crisps and a half a packet of biscuits a day and that's 1000 odd extra calories.

Don't get me wrong if i'm going out for a meal i have what i want , it was the junk food i was eating after a run/gym that i've pretty much cut out.

Yeah agree on the junk. I generally just eat too large portions of reasonable stuff rather than a lot of junk, and a bit of running helps burn off the excess. If you're actively trying to lose weight it's easier to do it through reducing intake than increasing the amount of calories burned.

Mind you I'm not that convinced how healthy running in that regard. We always go for a fry up after parkrun and had an intervals session with the running club last night and didn't get home until nearly 8 so picked up some pizzas on the way home biggrin

I've got a mate that is a member of a running club, or as she calls it "a drinking club with a running habit" hehe

Anyways, I'm just starting week 2 of c25k. The last time I ran for 90 consecutive seconds was probably 20 years ago laugh

Well, I've gone back to the beginning because I just got stuck moving on from the 8 minute intervals.

The local running club kicked off a c25k group last night. Over 70 people turned up!!! The club members all seem really enthusiastic so hopefully they'll be able to tell me what went wrong...

Bittersweet day for me yesterday. Finished week 8, but have ended up with an ankle like a grapefruit! Don't know how I managed it, my pace was very low for the whole run. My calf felt a bit tight at about the 20 minute mark but I was able to run it off.

Going to do park run on saturday. My running days have changed, and I need to do some on saturday. Cant consider saturday night, so will try saturdsay morning. But at my pace, with headphones in.

Down to 102kg. So thats's over 1 stone lost just by running and no booze. Would like to lose another, so a target weight in the 90's would be great.

Had bit of a hiccup on week 6 day 2. Due to the weather we went to the gym and did the session there. 5 mins walk and two lots of 10 min run. I was ok but Mrs Spydaman struggled and didn't manage it. However we went out last night with the intention of re-doing it and ended up running 28mins without stopping. It seems it's easier running outside. Can't wait till tomorrow as I reckon we can run our whole route which will be 30-35 mins.

Running will do the following for you:

(1) Damage your joints.

(2) Reduce your lean mass and base metabolic rate.

(3) Make you think, wrongly, that losing weight is about burning calories. It isn't. It's about restricting intake.

Running is not a very sensible exercise for most people. It's even worse for very fat people.

Eat much less; join a gym; do HIIT and resistance training 3 times a week. Job done. You'll be in shape within a few months.

I have a friend with this mentality. I pity him. Gets his own opinion confused with fact, can't grasp the concept everyone is different.

Running does not generate a catabolic state or reduce testosterone production, then? Or do you think it is not a fact that a very fat person running will be damaging his or her joints?

Plenty of people like and enjoy running, and it works for them, but it is not a very sensible form of exercise for overweight people.

If by 'very fat' you mean obese, then I'd agree that it's best to lose the weight / take advice from a doctor first.

Also if someone wants to achieve running 3 miles or a 10k then running is a sensible choice.

Not everyone wants to hole up in a sweaty room we'd rather be outside.

You could do no exercise and loose weight provided your diet was good.
