Personally, if I'm really low I take a fibre gel sachet (from the chemist) but at the moment think I'm OK as I have a big salad every night for tea or Broccoli, or occasionally vegetable soup, so seem alright. I'm also trying to remember/fit in plenty of water as I'm habitually dehydrated (travel a lot and never dare drink much during the day for the obvious reason!) but definitely need to sort this.

2 1/2 stone in a year? That's incredible! Can I ask what kind of chemical regime you use (obviously 2 1/2 stone natural is impossible) and how many cycles you've done?

To be honest, I'd normally agree with you as that is really quite wild. However in my case I think it's because I went from muscley to very fat and back to muscley.

The gains over the past 3 months have been quite small really and going forward I'd kind of expect that to be the case.

People who haven't trained before or in the first stages of training probably can't appreciate how powerful 'muscle memory' is.

The quickest gains usually coem in the 1st few months of starting serious weight lifting as the muscles, metabolism and, especially, nervous system accomodate. Things do eventually slow down, more for some than others though probably that will be related to various issues like diet, sleep patterns, training type and volume etc. + everyone having a different response mechanism and muscle fibre/type make up which implies their training will be best if specific to their needs. Changing approach can re-stimulate and kick start gains but inevitably, even if the routine is well matched, it will slow again. Sometimes changing things round can give an overall positive effect longer term - gain-slow-gain- slow etc.

But, for those who get to a decent level of size or strength and then lose it due to inactivity, re-starting will get it back far quicker than the bulk of it took to gain in the first place from my experience. For example it might have taken me 3 months from starting to gain 50Kg on a lift. Then maybe a year for the next 50Kg and then several years for the next 25kg, nominal figures just by way of explanation.

A couple of years off and I might be back down, a lot, even close to my original level - though I've never been back down to the start point on any lift however long I've had off training altogether or off that exercise/body part - but within a few weeks will be back pretty close to the previous max and within a few months, certainly less than a year, back there or at times even beyond what I had. It is like magic! biggrin

Apologies for the bump but where is the "Challenge Part 1" topic - I assume that is the OP losing weight but I can't locate it.

Cheers
