And therefore increases acceleration greatly, hence feeling much quicker and in reality being so as of the lack of need to change gear and drop your revs. It's a very different beast in sport mode.

I haven't had the pleasure of the standard car but the Evora S is very rapid indeed.

Faster than it's bhp and weight might suggest I thought.

I owned a 350bhp V8 GT Esprit which was also a similar weight to the Evora, if anything a bit lighter. The Evora S is subjectively every bit as quick, if not a touch sharper.

No it doesnt. It will still do 0-60 or 30-100 in the same time, you just need to press the pedal less in sport

Doesn't the sport have an extra 200 revs or something, which would have an impact?

It will, however, go up to 117 mph in third in sport mode and revs of 7200rpm, whereas not in sport mode it will only go to 100mph in third, meaning, side by side, while the non sport car has to change at 100 mph (or risk blowing the engine) and meaning the revs drop right out the power band, the car in sport mode keeps pulling away. Amittedly, car two, with no sport, might catch up a little as the sport mode car shifts from third to fourth at 117, but the car in sport mode always has the advantage in a straight line. You are also forgetting unquantifiable factors that the sport mode brings, such as opening the exhaust valves that results in a sportier sound, all adding to the experience and perceived speed. It's not a £2500 option for nothing you know. Next you'll be saying there is no point in having the tech pack that brings full touch screen DVD sat nav, premium pack which brings full leather, or extra seats (though I might be with you on the seats except in terms of adding value when it comes to resale).

What year Evora are you talking about? I don't think the older ones have the exhaust valves? At least im pretty sure the sport button doesn't open them?

I'm on a 60 plate...exhaust note changes as soon as sport is pressed...even at low speed...so it's not the revs shooting up that does it either.

You have an Evora 'S' then? As the N/A Evora doesn't have a valve on the silencer or even the wiring harness and actuator to cope with a valve(until MY12).

Also, £2.5k?. Sport pack is ~£1k

Ok, let's just clarify what the sport pack is. From the Lotus website....." Sports pack is available as an option on Evora (fitted as standard on Evora S). It provides switchable sports mode with sharper throttle response, increased rpm limit and sports DPM setting, Sports diffuser, Titanium sports exhaust tailpipe, Engine oil cooler, Cross-drilled brake discs, and painted brake calipers ". As I've said all along...it makes a difference and better brakes (as well as higher rpm) have the effect of making the car faster in a head to head as of the ability to brake later. Now could people who probably did not choose the sport option (and who are trying to convince themselves it makes no difference) stop trying to refute the irrefutable...lol.

You're right...sport pack is £950. Six speed close ratio sport gearbox is £1450. That's where the £2.5K came from.

Was that aimed at me?

Nope...just sick of non evora owners having a pop when they don't know what they're on with. Some folks on here just wanna have a row.

I guess it's geared for comfortable cruising, equating to low revs (2000-2500rpm) at standard/quick motorway speeds.

I have a lowly BMW that's geared for over 180mph in sixth. It's not going to get there either.

The box is normally fitted to cars like the diesel Toyota Auris 2.2, so it's designed for a 5,000rpm redline and fuel economy.
