Very happy to pick up my 2010 Evora from Leeds yesterday: premium, tech and sports packs, 12,000 miles.

I used to have an 05 Elise R which I sold in the summer and traded in my Maserati 4200 against the Evora.

250 mile drive back home and so far I love it. I was after a compromise between the Elise and the Maserati and seems to fit so far.

I have quick question on the lights. Mine are always on - but it is not just the sidelights, it's the main lights. If I switch the main lights on all it does is change the lighting for the cabin dash etc. Does anyone know how to disable this always on function?

Do you mean the DRLs or all the lights are always on. If all the lights, sounds like you have a electrics issue which could be a fuse or similar issue.

Very nice, it sounds like you have got the federal DRL's activated. There are some white connectors under the dash in the passenger footwell, check if they are connected.

Check my posts on here for direction:

Thanks for the responses I will have a proper look this week at that connector.

There are a couple of things that it will need to go into the dealer for under warranty - a crease in the leather that has appeared in the door cards and i think the rear speakers aren't working. But...

what a car! I know we all suffer from new car syndrome and the newest car is always the best one but I think it is fantastic. I bought this one unseen and undriven from JCT600 although i did have a test drive in one last summer.

After having the Maserati for two years and the Elise for four I was looking for one fun car alongside my normal car and as a big fan of Lotus after the Elise thought I would try an Evora even though at launch I never really loved the front end look.

I drove my Maserati up to Leeds then drove back in the lotus. Right at the beginning of the return trip I was a bit disappointed with the power in the Lotus - the old car had around 390hp and this has 270 ish and I thought I am going to really miss that oomph. But I have realised they just need to be driven differently. The Lotus has so much oomph and range in 3rd, whereas in my other car dropping it from 6th to 5th would give a sharp bust of acceleration.

The thing I loved about the Elise was the handling and this one doesn't disappoint either.

And the Evora is so comfortable. Of course after living with it for a couple of days I love the looks now. Really pleased with it and I do think they are a great buy at these prices second hand. (Just thought I would do my bit for the residuals)

Congrats! The Evora seems to be selling quite well now. Nice colour choice!

If it were mine, I think I'd get the wheels done black, along with the rear light surrounds, like the MY12 has.

The rear speakers may be balanced to be off, worth checking on the head unit settings, they don't make a huge difference

I saw this in my topics and thought I would do an update.

I have done a couple of thousand miles since I bought it and still think its a great car.

I sold my Maserati 4200 and Elise R in the summer to get this, wanting to have just one "stupid" car and it is the best of both worlds. Great handling, sporty feel like the Elise and comfortable with a bit of punch like the Maserati.

The supplying dealer JCT600 have been excellent - there's a few niggles to sort out under warranty, not done yet, but communication has been very good.

I do think the front view is still a bit "challenging" but it has definitely grown on me. The gear change is a bit stiff till it warms up. There really isn't that much room in the back - my 11 year old has no head room. But for me this isn't important - I can't fault it.

And boringly incredibly economical. I have a 1.8 Mitsubishi runaround that struggles to do 28 mpg. Even when I drive like a fool I get 26.

Happy.

Nice car mate, hope you enjoy it.

Did you manage to sort out your lights? I'm sure if you look in the handbook you can swith the headlights to either be on all the time or operate manually.

I remember reading on one of the other evora forums it was a simple switch change. Not sure if that is true, but...

The headlight trick depends on the year of the car. I think late 2010 models onwards have the option to activate the DRL by connecting the two white connector in the passenger footwell
