It fits through the bridge just, with about an inch to spare either side. you have to line up very slowly and point the mirrors down to ensure the back wheels dont get scratched. There are some nice twisties on that road

mmm, sounds too much like hard work to me for a road that's only 3-4 miles long.

I've just had the wheels re-furbed gloss black so I'll give it a miss.

Have you tried the road to Muirkirk from Strathaven? Now that's a twisty cracker!

You should go on the PH ecosse runs. see youtube channel 6C4gts from Barry on here. The Muirkirk is a favourite. My sister in law lives on a farm in Cronberry which means we have to take that road, sub 37 mins door to door in my old 911 turbo

I've met him, at a PH thing a couple of years ago.

My brother is going on the 2nd of March run in his S4 Avant but I'm already going to the Lotus Brekky meet at MMC that day, maybe catch one later.

Sorry 'bout the thread drift btw :-)

It's good to hear I'm not alone in preferring the Evora to a Porsche! I drove two Cayman Ss a few years ago and came away from the test drives disappointed with the laggy throttle, lack of steering feel and annoying non-linear steering rack. I drove two just to make sure the first one wasn't broken! I love quiet and comfortable cars (esp if they're of this ilk for daily use), but found the general lack of feedback from the Porsche disappointing. I chatted with a friend who told me he found much the same issues with the 911. I stepped up a gear with the motor racing instead and forgot all about it. Step forward a few years and I got a chance drive in an Evora S and it was an absolute revelation; so much more involvement and feel than the Porsche, an instant throttle response, linear steering rack, and a lovely feeling to driving the car. I was genuinely surprised at how far ahead of the Porsche the Evora was in terms of driving pleasure. Since then I've had some odd looks saying that to people, but reading this thread has re-affirmed what I thought to be the case!

So the modifications begin......

After a spin in Alex car on saturday I have booked in to MMC edinburgh next week!

Sports exhaust
2bular / 3rd cat removal
Barge Boards
Wheels painted black

I dont have enough time to get the paintshop for roof, front splitter and mirror paint!

drivers side bolster has some wear so gonna get some work on that. Anybody found a seat cover? I know Focus RS drivers with similar recaro wear problems on bolsters and they use covers to protect them

Very nice. Do you mind me asking what ballpark cost that was? I don't mind if you e-mail me.

I think including VAT it was about £900 for the pair in nappa leather Rob. It would've been cheaper but the quilting etc pushed the price up a bit.

Sorry kenny, typo too quick. My dads mate alex was round on saturday with the focus rs and he had the seat covers on the recaros.

The seat retrim from livingston looks good. I've seen their work on aeroplanes and boats. Looks a lovely finish. Did you do the dashboard?

Gosh, that's less than I thought it would be. It's good to know as my Lotus is open with no roof, windscreen etc and the seats obviously suffer wear because of it. I can rest easy when it's raining now, in the knowledge that it's not that expensive to retrim them, and I would only be going for the original leather etc, nothing fancy.

My dash leather is spot in Stevie, so didn't bother. I'm intending redoing my centre tunnel and leather sills at some point with nappa and silver stitching to match the seats.

I highly recommend transcal. I was very specific to the guy I dealt with about how they should look, and they came back to me 100% as asked with superb workmanship. Duncan, Brandon and Craig at MMC were all very impressed with them when they refitted them to the car.

Wow - these seats look amazing,
If I go down the Evora route over the Cayman then I'd seriously consider something similar to these.
One think I'd like to ask, could a fellow enthusiast advise what the "Barge boards" are? and do they serve any real purpose?

thanks

Barge boards look great IMO and I think increase downforce and tidy underside airflow by extending the floor area of the car. (I could be totally wrong, but they still look good)

Yes, they stop stones hitting the sills/bodywork but I believe the car has to be far lower to the ground for an aero effect, same for diffusers. Of course this works on a racing car but not a road car.
