After having an LE a few years ago, (and briefly a V6 Exige), I'm thinking about getting an Evora again in the Spring.

Having only had a n/a car without the close ratio box, I'm pretty sure the S will be a big step forward, but a couple of questions:

Is the latest Sports Racer much of an improvement in dynamic/quality terms over the MY12, or was the MY12 the big step forward in terms of quality, gear change etc?

Also, what's the latest on a facelift version? eg I wouldn't like to buy a new Sports Racer now, and then find out there's a relaunch in March at Geneva!

Anything other things to look for? I've not paid too much attention to Evora developments for a couple of years.

Thanks

The SR is identical dynamically to the standard car, the differences are all costmetic and mostly just paint although it does use some suede inside.

The MY12 cars onwards have a much nicer interior, basically they covered everything in soft leather which is very nice.

No news on any Lotus developments so they might facelift it tomorrow or in 2-3 years time. No-one knows (or those that do won't say).

I think once you see a MY 12 onwards it becomes a question of value for money. I have a MY 12 S IPS , having sold my LE with a cr box.

For me, I find the suedetex pack in the SR to be the nicest of all the Evora interiors. (WIth venom red leather please!)

I like the idea of venom red leather, but I'm also thinking ardent red SR. You can only have so much red!

Yeah, that's true! I'm intending buying a new S this year with custom paint and interior, so factory standard options won't worry me. wink

Any idea of current lead times for ordering new?

I think when i spoke to MMC in Edinburgh it was 10 weeks for a factory option car. They seem to do Evora's in bulk colours, so if they had just done a batch of red SR's it may be quicker?

Thanks - there's a fair chance I will be in MMC tomorrow to discuss!

Recently ordered an Evora S at MMC, only went for second look.smokin Was really impressed with the finish of the car, in fact the finish across the range has moved on since my 03 Elise. The ride is amazing.

Initially hated the red interior but when you see it in the flesh it looks good.

It would appear there are plenty of new Loti being ordered recently so the factory could be busy.

Its going to be a long wait.

The word is that they are developing an uprated and facelifted Evora, but there is no indication as to when it will be launched...if at all? I would say do not hold your breath too long!

Well unless you know more than the rest of us all I have seen across all the main forums is speculation. They could facelift it but it's selling well outside the UK and so there's little need to do so yet. I don't see a facelift helping sales much in the UK. No-one knows and tbh I can understand Lotus not telling. Sales are small enough with people hearing about a facelift and then putting orders on hold.

I'm actually about to swap my 2011 S for a normally aspirated Sports Racer. Been thinking about chopping it for a while as it's too thirsty, shift isn't as good as MY12+ despite having the cables for some reason, Alpine stereo is crap, interior colour and quality bothers me, and it's running out of warranty which gives me the fear.

Been pondering everything from Discos to Caymans, then I realised; I love my car, and having driven plenty of n/as and MY12 cars, for a bit of a power drop it can still tick all of my boxes!

As for facelifts, I wouldn't hold your breath. I'd expect some developments in the coming months but nothing visual.

So you're spending all that money to save about 3mpg? whistle

Well it's only one of the reasons I listed, but you're the first to say that! Personally of the ones I've driven the n/a's are usually high 20's and the Supercharged cars are high teens!

How dare you, I saw at least 21.2mpg in my S once. wink

Well they've lent me the car I'm interested in while mine's in for some work. So far it's at 29mpg doing driving pretty typical of my usual use. I'd expect 20-21mpg from my S!

Less torque so it needs to be dropped an extra gear, but I'm actually surprised how similar the top end is, it's pretty much like my car on a hot day.

Don't get me wrong, if I were buying a weekend car and wasn't doing as many miles then I'd have another S, but the compromise is more than acceptable

I have a 2011 NA and have to say when it is opened up on back country roads and the V6 is singing it is a great car whilst still being quite and comfortable on the motorway at high speed. I have had quicker cars for sure but the NA is sure quick enough to have a lot of fun in (or too much sometimes as the letter from Nottingham Police force would seem to indicate when I got home last night...doh).

Saw 34mpg on a run in an NA IPS. This is from an MY12 S IPS...!

Although I'd agree with Ollie above. High teens in an S, high 20's in an NA.

NA IPS for me is usually 29-32 MPG.
