No pics but i got 37.8mpg on a motoprway run last week
I have only had the car for 2 weeks so haven't seen 165mph yet. Average speed on the school run yesterday would have been about 30mph and that includes 8 miles of mway and 4 miles of NSL dual carriageway (bloody fog)
How do you get the trip computer stuff up on the Alpine screen?

Err yes it has been rather dull recently...they are lovely looking cars and it`s good to see owners taking car of their cars, but eh, are`nt these things for driving, although the weather has been pants over the last few months.
Worried about the economy figures, but pleased to see the top speed figures!
I tend to give mine a little run every weekend, think it`s better for the car than having under a dust cover for weeks on end. The only trip of any note over the last few weeks was a local Pistonheads run which had its moments, but was a bit of a procession. Still there were some lovely cars including an Esprit GT3, F599, GTR (although not my cup of tea) and a completely mad original Mini running Cosworth Seirra running gear...rear wheel drive etc!
Next run of note will be an early morning breakfeast run in April, and then the first proper trip is over to Brittany with the Petrolhead Nirvana gang which will be loads of fun.

Just drove basck from Hethel and the car showed 27mpg. I'll soon sort that out

It's from the sat nav screen from memory. Press near the compass thing on the middle of the left hand side. Edited by blueg33 on Friday 14th March 08:07
I am doing a road trip to the North of Scotland and back towards the end of next week so will post the figs up after.
Yes the trip info is accessed by pressing the screen icon that displays speed/distance/time on the left side just next to the compass. This pulls up the trip info and you can then change the settings and store multiple trips etc.. A bit of advice..I hadn't planned to max my car, but a very empty section of a motorway on the continent presented itself one morning at 6am, conditions were dry and visibility perfect, just a little bit of my own red mist around!! The car was totally rock steady and perfectly behaved...But please don't try this in the UK!!! this car is more about ride & handling than top speed competitions
My post was not intended to be competitive, just wanted to share with you the awesome stats, We travelled over 2000 miles averaging over 60 MPH and returned over 30 MPG. Here is another image you can scroll from that trip icon on the Alpine.

Ha ha, pretty much so. Plus I had the engine warm when I set the trip and was on my own with no baggage but did have the a/c on. It was a while back now and a journey I knew was going to be boring so decided to entertain myself hypermiling it. I don't think I can better it and have no intention of repeating the experience!
I just wanted to see if I could get over 40mpg as I have done the 150+ mile journey to the Eurotunnel a number of times cruising at 70mph (always very early in the morning) and get 37-39mpg.

If you use an S on short journeys then it will be poor, but any typical longer journey going with the flow or slightly quicker you`ll get 22-28 mpg or so. Mines been tweaked at Hangar 111 and on a run it is even better so will get around 30mpg.
This past weekend I test drove a new Boxster S...lovely car, great gearbox and very capable, but decidedly dull in comparison the the Evora (but very good on a daily basis, which is what I was thinking). I also drove a new GTR. Needless to say very fast and actually quite capable, but you need to be doing ballistic speeds to enjoy it. Even with the comfort mode its still quite firm, and the steering is relatively dead. Overall a real speed machine in which to kill yourself or someone else! I would`nt mind owning one for a few months.
Next weekend I have a test drive of an F Type Coupe...but if it is anything like the convertible, it`ll sound great, go quite fast, but the ride will be too firm and the steering dead, all along with a slush box auto...obviously aimed at the American market.
Reason for all this...my business partner has just bought a 911 4S which is his first proper performance car and something he has not been able to attain being a family man, so I thought I would review my car situation...at present I have a Jag XF as a daily driver (which is what I am thinking of replacing), which when I got in it after all the road tests, I thought it actually quite good and comfortable. Its actually a very good car and quite lively, but it is a tank when it comes to slowing down or cornering...but then maybe I am too used to driving the Evora, and compared to which, most cars will feel combersom.
My other idea was to get a Cayman, sell the Evora, and get an Exige V6...but all my friends think I would be mad swaping the Evora, and I must admit one side of me does think it would be a backward step. I think I am heading towards an M235i (still loads of fun and practical) and a suitable convertible for the odd occasions, and if I buy the right car, it might accrue in value?

I tried all the cars you list above, plus 997, 997 turbo, Cayman S, DB9, Maser Grantourismo
I ended up with an Evora....nuff said
