So hard to find the right evora, I thought I'd found one at lotus silverstone but due to the bloody MotoGP being on I couldn't get up to look at it, then some other bugger brought it ! Also annoying that Edinburgh have 2 I really like the look of but I live in Stevenage and its 1000 mile round trip, plus any warranty work is an unknown entity. I want a brightish colour and a 2+2 and a budget of around £33k , is it likely more will come on the market over the winter ? Shame more of these weren't brought new as second hand the pickings ain't rich

One of the reasons I am holding on to mine.
Replacement not easy to find!

My 2010 N/A I paid not much more than your budget for 2 years ago. Last year I was offered very close to what I paid for it. Dealer this year indicated retail on mine would be close to what I paid for it. Prices seem very strong right now.

I imagine some more may come on to market if rumoured revamped models with more power arrive but deliveries on these won't be for a while.

Edinburgh dealer is very good by the way.

If you are concerned about the need to buy local and you like the Edinburgh ones ask if your local dealer can do a swap or some sort of deal. I did this with mine which was originally for sale down south.

A couple of thoughts here,

The first is the chances are any warranty work will have been carried out on earlier cars, Mine is also a 2010 a 2+0 NA and personally unless you have young children I am not sure why you would use the rear seats. There are more 2009/10/11 cars about as some were management cars a scheme that I believe Lotus stopped which is good news for the 2nd hand market and why earlier cars could be brought at a good price, but prices have hardened as the realisation is that at this price point they are one heck of a car.

People do seem to be hanging on to their cars I know I am it's low milage runs well so I have no desire to sell. Both my previous Lotus's were all sourced north of Watford gap you may find the dealer would negotiate a more local dealer carrying out any warranty work for them. If you don't ask you won't know

I bought mine in feb last year, I needed a 2+2 for the occasional school run and also wanted a bright colour. In the end I compromised in terms of colour but got a high spec car with all the warranty work done. I also compromised on mileage a little and ended up with a higher milage car than planned but it meanst that I could be confident that it was fully sorted. By the time I have had it for a year I will have put another 20k miles on it.

Mine had the following under warranty just before I bought it

Headlights
Clutch
2012 gear linkages

It also had the following spec

Sport
Premium
Tech
Tubular exhaust (loud)
Barge boards

I also had the big service done, one wheel was slightly kerbed and twas replaced plus 2 rear tyres.

Budget was the same as yours.

I think you need to be prepared to travel, I missed a car at Murray's because I couldn't fly up that week, but flights to Edinburgh are pretty cheap so its not too bad.

Ended up buying from Silverstone who have been excellent.

It would be worth speaking to all the dealers and getting them to keep an eye out for you.

When I cange my car in Feb thats what I will be doing, asking Aimee to let me know first when something comes up.

I would recommend going for the 2+2 also. The 2+0 has no real benefits over the 2+2, only downsides IMO.

Murray Motors are excellent, why not fly up and make a weekend of it? Worth buying from them as you will be buying a good one.

They don't come up that often and hence difficult to get if you want an exact spec. (I have a 2011 version and no intention to sell).

I have children and the +2 is a massive bonus.

They do look good in black and red but that is opinion...

Suggest bribing Aimee at Silverstone to let you know whey your spec comes in, believe she likes flowers, jewellery and chocolates....

good luck

Thanks for the replys guys! I will make a few calls , see what can be done, I'm not in a big rush as the my boxster still does a wonderful job so maybe I will hang out for a NA MY12 car, people eventually must get bored of them smile

My budget was the same as yours and i bought an aspen white 10 plate NA with sport, tech, xenons blah blah with 30k on the clock from Murrays at the end of June.

I've since done 4k in it without issue and i wouldn't hesitate to buy from Brandon @ MMC again.

You do need to be quick though as Brandon (and im sure other Lotus dealers) have a list of customers with an ideal spec in mind and many cars (mine included) sell to these customers before they even hit the dealer website.

In saying that if you are less fussy about spec (no sport pack for example) you can make huge savings as they seem to find buyers less easily. For ultimate resale +2, sport and tech seems to be the way to go but if it's a keeper i guess this matters less. I've not had anyone in the back of my car yet but i'd but i've used it for luggage loads.....still nice to have in an emergency though.

At the moment demand for the "best" cars outstrips demand, especially at that low 30s price point so you'll have to be quick i'm afraid.

You've probably already worked this out but one of the reasons that 2009 / 2010 NA cars are holding their prices so well is that hardly any cars came out of the factory in 2011 / 2012.

Those evoras that did tend to be S cars from what my dealer tells me.

There are a load of differences between the early cars and later cars but i and countless others don't miss them in the cars we have. I'm sure they are better back to back but you don't miss what you never had.

I'd love an NA SR but i'm not going to pay and extra £20k for one.

I do not need the rear seats so I have a 2+0 S which for me is better as the free space is better for storage. The rear seats are for show unless you have small kids, although they will help get approval for the investment from the wife!

Fear not, the second i get one prices will plummet, Lotus will start selling new ones for £30k and mine will be worthless wink . I dont 'need' seats but i thought they might be handy to take the nephew and neice out, plus to fit the odd drunk mate in and do a small 2 mile trip to save him getting a taxi, Ive yet to see a NA MY12 car, and with the 10-11 cars holding their price so well it makes the new ones look like good value, then budget slip creeps in. I guess thats the price you have to pay to drive a rare car, still only ever seen one on the road. Seems to be lots of love for them on here, real shame that lotus didnt sell more of these, but all decent sports cars seen to be holding well right now, 911 Gen 2 seem to be holding very well as do many of the boxster/cayman range.
Off for another look at the classified, but not much ever changes on there !!

I suspect that when an MY12 n/a car comes up it will have a price premium maybe as much as £5k over say an MY11 car. The main changes are cosmetic I believe, I reckon that £3-4k would get a damn good retrim that would address the interior issues and probably cover the cost of better nav etc.

This may be the route I end up going down

My only issue with that would be I suspect the premium you pay for the MY12 would stay with the car, you might spend 3-4k on a re-trim and you still don't have the MY12, in those circumstances it would be better to pay the extra. Of course as you know It's academic as MY12 NA don't actually exist in this universe.

You are probably right. Although when I acquired my car there did seem to be a premium for the barge boards and tubular exhaust equal to about what they must have cost.

Several people have had interior re-trims done to a high standard for about £1k...there are some threads with pictures and details.

There are about 150 improvements to the MY12 cars, but most are subtle and in truth go unnoticed. The interior is the obvious one, but don`t get hung up on it, the MY10/11 cars are still superb machines.

I spent 5 weeks in a MY11 car and build quality seems the same compared to my MY12 car but the interior is much more in keeping with the price point.

I prefer the look of the seats in the pre MY12 cars, the later ones are too fussy for me, but things like the dash and door handles are nicer in the later cars

Remember that the luggage area only has a very low bar to stop luggage moving forward, not anything to stop it rolling around in the back. We tend to take carry on luggage in the rear seats and use a seatbelt to secure them. If you don't and you use the evora as lotus intended you get so fairly high speed luggage movement!

Even if you never use the seats i don't see there being a benefit to buying a +0 unless it's the deal of the century and you never want to resell.

Everyone is entitled to their own preference, for me it is the 2+0, and if I am in the minority then fine.
