Usual RobM77 claptrap.

What I actually said was your reasoning was ridiculous in choosing the 2+0 because your tire of your friends (I'm shocked..) making continuous requests for a lift in the back.

I don't wish to labour the point, suffice to say I would happily buy a 2+0 if it were significantly cheaper than the 2+2 comparable. I would not pay the same for the 2 cars because one eliminates a proportion of the resale market and often needs to undercut the 2+2 comparable because of a lesser market.

What I would not do is choose the 2+0 because I couldn't tell my mates to FRO when they asked for a lift. Or tell them to stop being a whiney little b1tch when they are shoved in the back or they can get out and walk...
'Mates' as a reason to buy a +2 I would respectively suggest is more about Ego and sounds a bit shallow, I also doubt if you will ever get a +0 'significantly cheaper' Porsche and others do very well selling 2 seaters so whilst some may never purchase one there are plenty of people who would £174,990 and only two seats smilehttp://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/m...

so by your rational a +0 with all the packs but no rear seat 'should' be less than a base +2 with no or limited options......now thats an interesting thought. But a +0 and +2 with equal packs will probably sell between £1 and 1.5K differential (No Ego involved)

Hang on a second, this has got nothing at all to do with ego and I've no idea where that suggestion came from. I simply and innocently stated that I would rather have a 2+0 Evora than a 2+2 for a number of reasons (although I really wish I hadn't now!). One of those reasons is that many times when a group of people gets assigned to various cars (Friday lunchtime pub trips from work, taking friends and relatives somewhere etc), from previous experience with 2+2s, if you say "my rear seats aren't of any use to an adult", people tell you to stop talking rubbish and try and cram themselves in and then spend the whole journey moaning and it gets tiresome. After 2 years with a 2+2 I got sick of it. The real raison d'etre of the 2+2 is for people with children - if you don't have children, then in my opinion they offer the worst of both worlds. For that reason I applaud Lotus' decision to offer a 2+0 option with the Evora. The loading space is also more practical and usable without two bucket seats in the back. It really isn't so strange that I would want a 2+0 is it?

That was all - can we not just leave it at that? This thread is about Evora values and I joined to ask a simple question of what people thought of 2+0 values compared with 2+2s.

Shnozz: You really need to stop bullying people before you get banned from here. You've done it before and you're doing it again; this isn't a playground, it's a car forum. It's not acceptable to just start throwing your ego around and insulting people on a quiet and well meaning thread on the value of used Lotuses. I haven't reported you, but I'm jolly close, so please let's just be civil.

8 people want to go down the pub, the usual thing is to take two cars rather than 8, and I often get asked to drive because "I've got back seats" and then people moan the whole way there. How on earth is that linked to ego? confused

I bought a 2010 NA Evora 2+2 at the end of April for around £31.5K. I started looking late 2014 and the prices don't seem to have moved much in that period but maybe there will be a drop as the summer comes to an end.

I wanted a 2+2 and when I was looking the prices were on average £1-2k higher compared to the 2+0. For me being 5'6" and my wife 5'2" with an eleven year old daughter who is also 5'2' it means that either my wife or daughter can fit in the back (I drive with my seat as far forward as possible to reach the pedals). The only complaint I get from daughter or wife if they travel in the back is that the rear seats are hard and become uncomfortable after about an hour.

For me a 2+2 means we can go out and enjoy the car as a family and helped justify what was essentially a self-centred decision to get a sports car. My daughter, in particular, loves the car.

8 divided by 2 is 4 smile. Unless you all have single seaters you won't need to take 8 cars.

I think we could probably do with a 2+0 vs 2+2 thread of its own...

I probably am doing a decent job of sending my car in the general direction of £20K as I've put 1200 miles on in the first month of owning/loving it, but I didn't buy it just to keep it nicely for the next owner.

Ticket-price wise, this is the most expensive car I've bought, but really I won't know how much it will have cost me until I sell it on. If depreciation is as slow as it seems to be, I expect a few years of ownership will only lose me about as much as if I'd bought a £20-25K car brand new.

Wouldn't you rather have this http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/l... than a new GT86? It's probably be worth more after 2 more years as well!

Oops - completely missed that!

IMHO they make pretty good DD's, comfortable and pretty quiet, but having to move the seat to get in an out is a bit tedious IMHO.

I am 6ft, don't have the seat all the way back and don't need to move it to get in and out unless I get a tight parking space.

I think I'm getting terrible deja-vu here wink

It's because you are tall that you don't have to sit so far forward that you have to slide your seat back to get in and out. If it doesn't affect you, it's obviously a non issue, but given that Lotus thinks it's selling to potential Porsche owners, if it does affect you, it's another 'but' in the 'yeah, it's absolutely great to drive, but...' story. Which is presumably why the fixed it in the 400...

And if you were making proper use of the pub, you'd take two taxis there and not remember how you got back home! wink

I'm 5ft 6in and have to do this with my Elise. I sit so close to the door hinge that the door aperture isn't big enough unless I put the seat back. Fine for occasional use but a little bit of a pain. Made easier as there is nothing else to adjust and I know exactly where to move the seat to be comfortable.

Never occurred to me that it'd be the same in an Evora.

If someone adjusts the seat in my Scirocco it makes me cry inside - there is only one single exact position where it doesn't give me backache and it took me a week to find it initially!

Don't get me wrong, the Evora is very comfortable - I did about 5 hours of driving on my second day of ownership and arrived very refreshed, but leaving home, stoping half way for coffee, then fuel and lunch all meant a lot of tedious seat movement.

I imagine something very low tech, like a magnet on the seat rails to bump into when it's at my favourite driving position will remove a lot of the tedium, but it is a bit of a pain. Just think of all the faff of driving up to a garage, getting out to open the door, back in to drive in, and then out of the car again...

It's a bloody brilliant car, just not a perfect one!
