Don't get me wrong, the Evora is very comfortable - I did about 5 hours of driving on my second day of ownership and arrived very refreshed, but leaving home, stoping half way for coffee, then fuel and lunch all meant a lot of tedious seat movement.

I imagine something very low tech, like a magnet on the seat rails to bump into when it's at my favourite driving position will remove a lot of the tedium, but it is a bit of a pain. Just think of all the faff of driving up to a garage, getting out to open the door, back in to drive in, and then out of the car again...

It's a bloody brilliant car, just not a perfect one!
Put a small dot in marker pen on the seat and another on the centre console in your driving position. When alligned jobs a carrot.

+1, but do keep up at the back you 'slacker' - I've added 2500 to mine in 6 weeks, eeklaugh .
20000 in mine last year.
Well done you two! My only real concern is having to take time off work to get it serviced at a dealership. Don't really fancy doing that twice a year!

Oh and at the risk of upsetting the +0 gang, I do like having seat belts to strap down the rear tyres I plan to take to the dealership. I never want to end up paying their tyre prices again!

Mine was serviced on Monday at Silverstone. They gave me an Elise to play with. I spent the morning working from Costa and the afternoon working from McDonalds (new one by the bypass), both have free wifi. Car was ready at 3.30pm.

Its an hour and half to Silverstone for me. Last time they had the car for 2 days and gave me a loan car

yes I've not seen a 2+0 up close, but judging by the Ferrari 550 and other similar cars, you can no doubt fit more in without seats and also fit things better due to the flat loading area. Being able to restrain large or heavy items in the cabin is a vital safety requirement though, so I'd expect retaining straps in the 2+0 - can anyone confirm if it has them?

I believe that the 2+0 does have retaining straps.

I hold things in place in my 2+2 with the seatbelts, it worked very well with a couple of tyres for the rear last week

The 2+0 has a stranded wire chord runing accross the cabin which secures a gargo net...it is finished off tidily.

Think i'd be happier with a seatbelt around a carry on bag than relying on the small cargo net.

Usual RobM77 claptrap.

What I actually said was your reasoning was ridiculous in choosing the 2+0 because your tire of your friends (I'm shocked..) making continuous requests for a lift in the back.

I don't wish to labour the point, suffice to say I would happily buy a 2+0 if it were significantly cheaper than the 2+2 comparable. I would not pay the same for the 2 cars because one eliminates a proportion of the resale market and often needs to undercut the 2+2 comparable because of a lesser market.

What I would not do is choose the 2+0 because I couldn't tell my mates to FRO when they asked for a lift. Or tell them to stop being a whiney little b1tch when they are shoved in the back or they can get out and walk...
'Mates' as a reason to buy a +2 I would respectively suggest is more about Ego and sounds a bit shallow, I also doubt if you will ever get a +0 'significantly cheaper' Porsche and others do very well selling 2 seaters so whilst some may never purchase one there are plenty of people who would £174,990 and only two seats smilehttp://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/m...

so by your rational a +0 with all the packs but no rear seat 'should' be less than a base +2 with no or limited options......now thats an interesting thought. But a +0 and +2 with equal packs will probably sell between £1 and 1.5K differential (No Ego involved)

Hang on a second, this has got nothing at all to do with ego and I've no idea where that suggestion came from. I simply and innocently stated that I would rather have a 2+0 Evora than a 2+2 for a number of reasons (although I really wish I hadn't now!). One of those reasons is that many times when a group of people gets assigned to various cars (Friday lunchtime pub trips from work, taking friends and relatives somewhere etc), from previous experience with 2+2s, if you say "my rear seats aren't of any use to an adult", people tell you to stop talking rubbish and try and cram themselves in and then spend the whole journey moaning and it gets tiresome. After 2 years with a 2+2 I got sick of it. The real raison d'etre of the 2+2 is for people with children - if you don't have children, then in my opinion they offer the worst of both worlds. For that reason I applaud Lotus' decision to offer a 2+0 option with the Evora. The loading space is also more practical and usable without two bucket seats in the back. It really isn't so strange that I would want a 2+0 is it?

That was all - can we not just leave it at that? This thread is about Evora values and I joined to ask a simple question of what people thought of 2+0 values compared with 2+2s.

Shnozz: You really need to stop bullying people before you get banned from here. You've done it before and you're doing it again; this isn't a playground, it's a car forum. It's not acceptable to just start throwing your ego around and insulting people on a quiet and well meaning thread on the value of used Lotuses. I haven't reported you, but I'm jolly close, so please let's just be civil.
You do make me chuckle Rob.

Aside from this somewhat strange inability to decline lifts from work colleagues to the pub, what attributes does the +0 have over the +2 that draws you to buy one? Genuine question.

If its load capability then why not have a +2 and take the rear seat off and bung it in the garage until resale?

It is a genuine question to try and understand logic. All the dealerships I spoke to when searching for my car warned me away +0 for resale down the line. The last time I had such an emphatic word of caution was when looking for a Cerbera and a universal warning to avoid any non-a/c cars as resale would be tough.

I live in Leeds and will be using Silverstone for the bigger work (anything more than just a service). They really impressed me when I have called in and spoken to them.

I understand their wifi is a bit st (piggybacked from a mobile network..) so will either leave it with them a few days or do the same as you and aim for the nearest coffee shop with wifi and hole myself up for the day.

Costa in Towcester is 10 minutes away but parking is limited to 2 hours. Macdonalds is similar time away. Alternatively stay at Silverstone and cat to the delightful Aimee

It's because you are tall that you don't have to sit so far forward that you have to slide your seat back to get in and out. If it doesn't affect you, it's obviously a non issue, but given that Lotus thinks it's selling to potential Porsche owners, if it does affect you, it's another 'but' in the 'yeah, it's absolutely great to drive, but...' story. Which is presumably why the fixed it in the 400...
6ft isn't really tall but obviously s six footer hasore legs to get through the gap than a five footer. My sest is a few stops from being right back.

Well after a year (and a forum name-change for me) it's interesting to the see the cheapest Evora currently on Pistonheads is actually £2k more expensive than 12 months ago!

£30k is where they seem to have settled, great news if you already have one - slightly worse news if you're a wannabe although over the life of the car it certainly helps the man-maths.

Similar with the Elises and, particularly, the S1 and S2 Exige. All seem to be going up rather than down. S2 Exiges are now £5k more than when I was looking to buy one 5 years ago! I've since owned one 4 years, sold that for £4k more than I bought it for and bought an Evora.

Crazy times, but then this isn't limited only to Lotus...

Not upset at all, on a finer note the +0's have a luggage net sounds like yours is missing one wink

£30K doesn't seem bad for the type of car it is (I know Im Biased) but consider this, a 2009 Lotus Europa with 20,000 miles = £25K Having owned a Europa and an Evora spending an extra £5 K you are actually getting a much more liveable car if you use it daily or occasionally technically its better, e.g. better Baking, handling and performance . Don't get me wrong i would have brought a new Europa if they were still in production. http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/l...

EFA. It's still a Lotus, after all.
