This seems cheap for what it is. Obviously not £20k but is the plentiful supply of 400's starting to depress prices for the S1 Evora?

The Oakmere car has been on the market a while and just reduced. I haven't viewed it, but have read reports that the paintwork is not in perfect shape.

I did wonder if it was yours, being grey and not many with those miles. Looks in good nick.

My 2013 s sr just sold via Silverstone for 43ish so prices still seem good for them.

It was in good condition inside and out.

Here's a 2010 with sports and tech pack.

£23k, 87K miles.

Not a huge amount of info on it, if it's not had the clutch done yet then it would be throwing a 3k bill your way in short order.

How do you conclude that re the clutch?

Allot of the higher mileage cars mention a clutch replacement, my assumption was that you'd be lucky to get much beyond 80k on an original.

From my reading on these, the clutch is the most expensive service item due to being an engine out job. Besides the high mileage, it might be why this one is fairly cheap.

My experience comes from spending far too much time obsessing about these rather than any real-world experience, am I way off the mark?

Most replacements seem to be dealing with incorrect installations. I don’t think that there are enough high mileage cars to enable us to draw a conclusion. For all we know it could go on for another 20, 40, 60 k miles.

Many of the earlier cars had the clutch go at 30k - 40k. I'd wager there is a likelihood at any sort of mileage unless you target a car that has just had it done.

Mine was an early one, clutch done under warranty, then did over 50k with no issues on the new clutch

Looking at the clutch change poll on TLF, there is one car on 72k miles on original clutch, one replaced at 45k miles which turned out to have lots of life left in it,

I heard about the production issues on some early cars which yours suffered from.

If you were selling I'd imagine you'd mention it as a positive? I know some sellers can be surprisingly short on detail but assuming it's on the original I would expect it to be at the end of its life.

Half the advert is selling the sound system with no mention of the service history. It's not all written in caps but it doesn' fill me with confidence...

There is also mention of "a custom shielded K&N induction setup" but no photo of the engine bay. Just lots of photos taken from different angles and in different locations but all from some distance. Hmmm... scratchchin

It could be a dog but it could equally be an advertiser who doesn't have a clue about the sort of things an Evora buyer will be concerned about

depending on how a car is driven will affect how long a clutch lasts for me I can't remember the last time i replaced a clutch, I could be wrong but I think a dealer can estimate how much life is left in a clutch plate. Having said this at £23,000 if the rest of the car is good then £3K isn't a huge amount to spend on a car like this

Only by physically removing it from the car and visually inspecting it. And, obviously, if you’re going to that much effort, you might as well replace it.

Ah OK I thought I read that they could be inspected(assuming there was a inspection hole) but maybe that was a dream.

A small survey was done here https://www.thelotusforums.com/forums/topic/80630-... based on 83 cars 12 had and 71 had not had an issue (although it said it was on 113 votes!)

A comment was also made

"Not wishing to hijack the thread with premature conclusions but I think the 'Evora Clutch problems' are two specific problems not related to short wear life.

The first was a batch of faulty clutches in early cars that dragged slightly - most of these were done under warranty as the clutches lasted about 2k miles or so depending on use.

The second is a heavy pedal and possible inconsistent bite points between cars - not clutch wear related. Interestingly my Elise S 1zz always had a very high bite point which initially concerned me but 3 years later it was the same."

Hi, I have a 2011MY S and I remember it had a recall on the clutch master cylinder which was done at Silverstone. I wonder if this was the source of some early failures?. It still low mileage at about 14k and no issues with the clutch.
