I was at the factory on Thursday and nobody was working on the Elise/Exige line and only a handful were working on the Evora line. Lots of part built cars on the shop floor.
Hmm,also heard that Lotus laid off a load of staff the other day. Didn't make the news as they were contract employees, but can't be good news. Feel sorry for them just before Xmas. Pretty ruthless. I hope its not a sign that the new plan unravelling already.

Odd. According to the MSN Cars review of the Exige Sport 350, Lotus is in rude health and has been operationally cash flow positive for the past several months.

The review of the Exige btw is hugely positive.

But you can't have any Lotus related thread on Pistonheads without a dollop of negativity and scare mongering, it's in the rules.

Looks really good and well done for supporting Lotus...they are highly underrated cars...

How did you find the steering feel and the seat compared to the previous SR version?

Will be able to give better comparisons next week once I collect the car, only had two test drives in the 400 up to this point. The Sparco's aren't as nice as the Recaro's, but they aren't a deal breaker in any way for me. To be honest I really loved the drive in the 400, and at the weekend that was jumping from the S, in to the 400 then back in to the S, so while I've read people being unhappy about a change in feel I didn't personally have any issue.

Be interested to hear how you find those Sparcos on a longer journey. The Recaros are superbly comfortable even when a motorway closure forced me to a 12 hour journey earlier this summer. Even a 20 min test drive in the 400 made me think the Sparcos felt pretty rigid by contrast, especially on the centre of the spine.

Yes guess we all have different likes and dislikes...let's hope for Lotus's sake the new set up appeals to more people.
For me I'd have the new car in a heart beat if it had the Recaro seats and the previous steering set up...even if it did weigh 5kgs more!

The 400 is very colour sensitive I think CTE, for example in signature silver I think it looks horrendous. But I was the same with the S1 version, there are colours it's available in that make it look like a toy car. I just generally love them all though, it's like being in a secret club, which is a good and bad thing. biggrin

I was referring more to the Sparco seats and the revised steering, although I agree with you regarding the colours. My preference is for Carbon grey or the dark metallic green. For some reason plastic based bodywork always looks better to me in a metallic type paint....but not silver in this case! Red looks nice in the photos though.

Luckily for me, the Sparco's have turned out to be great. I suffer from a slightly dodgy back at times, and the way they are made seems to perfectly support my back in a way that is really comfortable. Longest drive I've had so far was about 100 miles, and comfort level was spot on. Love the car.

Great news. Have to say it looks epic.

I've done 800 miles over Xmas back and forward to visit family etc and for someone susceptible to lower back issues the ride and Recaros (an alternative R&R?) make for a very comfortable commute. Glad to hear the Sparcos are proving equally good.

Back in October when I picked my one up I did Silverstone to Brighton then drove to Chamonix in the French Alps and on to Bordeaux the next day 2400kms. No bad back very comfortable, well it's not as comfortable as my Range Rover Hybrid Autobiography !!! but its not bad easily as good as the Aston vantage I traded in for it. ! Had the car out in heavy rain today its a great car shame very few people like us seem to be buying them. if they stop making them at least values will rise I suppose, I have no idea why this car is not selling in bigger numbers, as its so much better then my wife's Porsche. maybe Lotus clients like smaller cars thats all I can think of. it could easily take 500hp that chassis, brakes are great i have been giving my car some real stick bouncing it of the limiter in every gear once hot of course. breaking very late and hard very little brake fade. its a proper tool and just as nice to drive across country as my old Evora S once you get used to it.

Back in October when I picked my Signature silver with red alcantara which actually looks nice in the flesh. the colour looks great in the light. I have been the using the car for daily to work which is not far it is much easier to get in and out of then the S. Had the car out in heavy rain today very sure footed. its a great car shame very few people like us seem to be buying them. if they stop making them at least values would rise I see there are demo cars now at £68K on this site already still no takers it's mad have no idea why.
Gutted that i did not wait after having paid £82K oh well !, I have no idea why this car is not selling in bigger numbers, as its so much better then my wife's Porsche. maybe Lotus clients like smaller cars thats all I can think of. it could easily take 500hp that chassis, brakes are great i have been giving my car some real stick, bouncing it of the limiter in every gear once hot of course. breaking very late and hard very little brake fade. its a proper tool and just as nice to drive across country as my old Evora S once you get used to its slight harder ride, it is very forgiving still. Now done 5000kms hope they go ahead with the roadster as this would be a perfect car.

JMG has confirmed that they are making the Evora 400 Roadster. It will arrive November 2016 (just in time for winter. Doh!)

Great news, but reality is that if he says November, then it will be spring 2017, which is fine! Or if the car is available for order in November, then deliveries will be spring 2017...hopefully it will have the new gear linkage as per the Exige 350??

Good effort Trevor. We've just cleared 4,200 miles in 3 months in our 400 - still love it!

I may be wrong but I think the Sport 350 linkage has borrowed heavily from the 400. Someone may correct me though.

why does it take so long to launch the Evora 400 Roadster .. especially if it's as simple as Gales says; 2 removable lightweight panels, stored in the back seat area.
