I used to have a 2011 Evora, now have a 2013 Evora, and test drove a 400 a few months ago...never any questions about brake pedal travel??

As Blueg33 says, the pedal travel on the one we borrowed made heel and toe virtually impossible (which I must do subconsciously in our 991 because it was an issue every time I braked with a downshift). It has been mentioned in a couple of reviews I've read (Autocar and Car I think).

It must be adjustable...

Ah yes, silly me, I was forgetting that the heel and toeing is not an issue in an Evora because you have to double de-clutch to change gear!!! Ha ha...

Seriously, it must be adjustable.

No easy way to change travel provided the system is properly bled. I have a 2011 NA Evora and have drive a load more Evoras and pedal always been very good, definitely one of the cars good points IMO. I always heal and toe and double declutch, always have done since driving old FIATs and MGs without syncro (and watching the F1 drivers do it). Tell the truth if you don't then if you drive on limit you will upset the car on corner entry as the rear wheels will under speed on each shift pushing the car to an oversteer balance. I know most people don't but if you want to drive these cars really quickly (especially mid engined / rear engined with a rearwards C of G) then its a must, learn how.

I always heel & toe whatever I drive, it's just habit. Oddly though have found it tricky in the Evora but I think it's more to do with throttle sensitivity than break pedal travel. If I'm too quick depressing the throttle it's difficult to control the revs so I end up slowing the whole motion down which sort of defeats the object

Have you got Sport Chrono as an option on your 991? wink

Interesting, I find it easiest in sport mode when the throttle is most sensitive.

Its worth trying another 400. We have had ours for 5 months now and the brake pedal travel is short, and heel and toe is not a problem

It's typical Lotus - some stuff that's absolutely sublime, other stuff that's wrong that's basic and irritating.
That sentence sums up the Lotus brand. It explains why their market is limited to very keen drivers, & why they don't sell many cars. I'm hopeful things will improve, under JMG.

Have you seen the 400 audio set up guide at thelotusforums.com? According to this, the 400 audio sounds terrible as it leaves the factory, but can be made to sound much better if you follow the (quite complicated) set up instructions.

You seem to have left out the detail that all new cars come with the new audio set up pre programmed.

As for it being complicated, I did it on my own car at the weekend and it took under five minutes and was very simple to do. The instructions are incredibly hand holdingly basic, but I guess that doesn't allow for getting a dig in if you mention that.

That's the plural.

How about 'a blast of Evoras'?

That centre car I believe is Stratton MC's demonstrator... I had the pleasure of testing it recently and it is absolutely superb.

And it's mine just to the right of centre James. Needed a clean though.

Looks great. It's getting more and more sharp as the Porsche gets more and more blobby.

Was this post trying to be helpful, or yet another Porsche owner just having a dig? Just asking as it explains why the car magazine market is limited to me and they don't sell more magazines to me. I hope things improve in the future as Porsche's stranglehold over Journo's freebies and favours softens, just like the majority of it's cars. After all, their are only so many accountants and dentists to sell a Porsche too wink

I actually think Lotus are turning out a pretty decent product these days, and something a little different - not necessarily better - but different to the mainstream. But it's hard when people aspire to a brand for image (just look at how everyone needs to own an ooodi these days - yuck) rather than the best experience. But to be clear, I m a Lotus owner and I am biased, so no hidden agenda other than to see a great British marque succeed in offering something, well, so quintessentially British rather than Germanic sameness.

Well, went to try out a Lotus 400 today (or at least look at one to see if it was worth a try out) and no, I'll stick with
my existing IPS Evora.

The new styling is definitely not for me - interior or exterior.
