Hi David,
.......Quick question re your barge boards - are those the Lotus ones and were they fitted by MMC for you? I did enquire about them, but like everything from Lotus they seem to be on factory back order........ I do like the way they look ........
No, they're from a bulk purchase through a guy over on SELOC ( http://forums.seloc.org/viewthread.php?tid=390789&... ) and fitted by myself. Really good quality - made from alloy (rather than the wooden Lotus ones) and you can either have them fully powder coated like mine are or with a carbon-effect wrap on the visible bit. Dead easy to fit too (if you can get the plastic bolts that secure the rear arch liner to let go that is), utilising the existing bolts that fix the bottoms of the A and B panels to the chassis, locating tabs that slot between the sill and the chassis for the bit in between these, and a generous bead of seam-sealer (supplied with the boards) along their entire length........Quick question re your barge boards - are those the Lotus ones and were they fitted by MMC for you? If you're in luck, Fraser ( Frizz on SELOC - http://forums.seloc.org/member.php?action=viewpro&... ) might be persuaded to do another batch if he gets enough enquiries.
If I was to have the SR finish applied to my Evora I would go down the vinyl route as the modification can be reversed (thinking about resale here - regardless of base body colour it's a buyer who wants an Evora with the SR look [even though it's not a SR] vs one who wants one with an original paint scheme).
Last night I was watching Channel 4's For The Love Of Cars from last Sunday; interestingly the Coys auctioneer on there stated that classic car buyers are looking out for originality, adding when original cars are gone they're gone. Our Evora Series 1s are too new to be considered classics right now, but for the oldest ones like mine there's only another 9 years to go, so it won't be that long before they will be.
I'm keeping mine as original as possible, save for original factory offered mods like the sport exhaust, and enjoying it in standard trim (plus I've never been a fan of the SR look, however that's just me :-) ). But, as they say beauty in in the eye of the beholder.
