Hello, when I bought my car I noticed that it had Continental Sport Contact 3s all round.

I understand from reading around that preference is to either keep to the standard fitment Pirelli P-Zeros or instead move to the Michelin Pilot Super Sports that are fitted to the 400.

The rears are now on the cusp of requiring replacing. My options therefore appear to be as follows -

1) Replace with Contact 3s (possibly with a view to replacing all four with another tyre when they wear down again),
2) Replace with Michelins, then change the fronts for Michelin when they wear down.
3) Replace with Pirellis, then change the fronts for Michelin when they wear down

The question is, which of the above will give me the best wear/handling compromise? Are Continentals good enough just to continue using going forward, or were they a bad choice by the previous owner?

Any advice welcome smile

Thanks

Mines only had pirellis on it since I've owned it.......the thing I'm most impressed by is its wet weather capabilities - they clear water amazingly well.

Guess I'm getting about 6k from the rears

If you've got 19s on the rear, there's still a bargain to be had if you're quick : http://www.motorsportauctions.com/index.php?a=ap&a... . At £180 a pair, I was greedy and bought 1 pair for immediate fitment and another to put into storage in the attic for future use.

Thanks for the input, guys :-)

My car is an LE, if that helps.

It sounds though that the Michelin is the smart way to go.

Help needed

I seem to have torn through my rear tyres on my Evora S in about 8,000 miles
Outer edge is 4mm but didn't realise inner was through to the core till up on ramp for MOT (FAIL)
Whats worse is the replacement tyres (Pirelli P zero 275/30 ZR 20 97Y) are out of stock with no clue on time scales.

any ideas on where I can source these. I want to stick with the Pzeros as I don't want to compromise on performance. I have seen some the right size but they say they are for Audi's and not sure if they are right for the Lotus.

any help very much appreciated

The tyres for the Evora are also used by Mercedes , I think you will find MO after the size spec . However I am unable to help with finding any short of calling every tyre place to find if they have them on the shelf .

Not for the 19/20s on the Evora S. If you want to remain OEM, the OP needs to find P Zeros with an LS marking (Pirelli P Zero Corsa Asimmetrico 2 275/30R20 97 Y LS XL are the full details). These are unique to Lotus so are a) quite tricky to find and b) expensive. Don't use the Audi ones - the handling will definitely be compromised.

However, don't be afraid of the PSS. They are a better performing tyre than the P Zero and there is a reason that they are the OEM selection on the Ev400. If they had been available when the S was released, I'm sure that they would have been the OEM choice then as well.

Getting 8k miles is good going, my Corsas were down to the markers in 4k.

I changed to MPSS last year and would not go back, 6k miles down they are going strong and about half worn. Have not noticed any performance drop off but would not expect to find any on the road. The grip levels are actually better when its cold and wet. Could not get 275 rears and went with 285 without issue. Last year a full set were just under £700 for a full set.

ATS appear to have some Pirelli's but they are saying LS is a Land Rover tyre ;-) https://shop.atseuromaster.co.uk/tyres/pirelli/p-z...

Genius! I'd love to see someone get a set of those on a Defender.

No, they're not.

That is a different type of tyre (for the original 18/19" wheels). Not the Corsa tyre for 20" wheels.

The 'standard' (ie non Corsa) P Zeros for the 18/19" wheels are M0/M1. All slightly confusing...
