Changing the clutch between 40 and 50k would be fine for me, but 20 to 30k wouldn't as that would be a couple of year's worth of mileage even on a brand new Evora.

Any other big ticket items that go within the first 50k?

Because they're a known weak point
It's not the west of the clutch that is excessive it's something to do with the plates and eventually it becomes very difficult then impossible to get in gear
Really? i know there was a few with poor install issues but there are many that have had no problems including mine which is over 5 years old,

Weird comment Blueg123 said his has done 50K and no issues I suspect he will get another 50 out of if driven well.

I always rev match on downshifts, but otherwise use the clutch as you would on any car. I actually have to do a complex S shaped reverse onto my drive which means that I do sometimes have to slip the clutch slightly, and as the car is my daily I also use it in traffic jams which means lots of clutching and de-clutching. The clutch feels exactly the same as it did 35k miles ago.

At every service I ask Lotus Silverstone to check the clutch and comment on its operation. No problems have been reported to me.

I'm on 71k and no issues (touch wood) and i am not so sympathetic to rev match on downshifts.

I have changed my mind wrt barge boards about twentington times. confused

Think I need to see some to decide.
When you decide I have some that I haven't even unpackaged you can have. My Evora is going on PH classified over the weekend (tonight if I get the ad written in time) so I won't need the barge boards.

Is anyone able to point me in the right direction to understand the plate next to the Vin plate (on the panel below the rear seat). Is it some sort of build details or some other info?

That is useful Havoc, thank you.

There is another plate next to the vin, a large table - 4 columns of 11 rows with number codes - such as (43R -000313)

Any idea?

I had the children helping me wash the Evora yesterday afternoon. Lots of giggling from the back of the car so I go to see what is going on.......Turns out a noodle mit has managed to snag the "U" of the Lotus badge and now we have a LOT S.

2 mins with some good double sided tape and it's as good as new.

And the new passenger record is me (at 5'10) a 6ft passenger, an 11 year old and a 15 year old..... Was a bit snug.

My Evora 400 is the best car I have ever driven, but it's spent 20 days out of 100 days of ownership being worked on. None of the issues were "major" (ie. would stop a journey from being made), but several issues have required repeated visits. The car's been worked on by the factory themselves for 14 of those days.

Make of that statement what you will...
The natural assumption is that the factory working on your car will give a better result. Its not what I found. The factory totally failed with the aircon in my car, both in manufacture and then working on it under guarantee. It was a dealer that found the system had been assembled without a sealing washer on one joint.

So a very brief update.

Have managed a few drives in the car these last few weekends. Firstly the negative, I find it hard work in very heavy traffic, the clutch feels heavy and I'm probably trying too hard to look after the clutch and avoid slipping it in crawling traffic. I also find the throttle a bit too quick acting early in it's travel in sport mode, I'd rather it a little 'longer', in fact I prefer the throttle response in normal mode in the first 10 or 15 mm of travel.

However, it's just an absolute scream to drive. This weekend the roads of been a little damp and cold but the car has been wonderful, lots of feel and very predictable which is very different to how I felt about it on damp roads when I first has the car. I think I'm being far more gentle with the controls than when I first had the car - I was used to a 4 wheel drive 911 where you could really take liberties with the back end. The steering is fabulous and the way the car moves into oversteer is really predictable. It's fast enough to be fun on faster roads and delicate enough to throw around tight B roads.

I was so close to booking it into Hangar111 for some komotec work but I've decided against it for now. I wanted an S mainly for tuning potential, but I don't think I've had one moment when I wanted more torque or top end, so although more is normally better, I'm not rushing it.

Still in a quandary over an SR wrap and barge boards. I think they suit the cars and do make them look sharp, but I also love the colour and like being able to see some of the lines which you lose a little with the wrap (the bumps in the roof and the depth of the undercut on the sills).

I too planned to 'komotec' my car but only today thought why I would? It is too fast for me on B roads and plenty on motorways. Glad you are enjoying the car. I did add barge boards and love them....you know you want to!

I love the throttle response in sport mode, ideal for heel and toe. Tried an Aston v8 vantage and slow throttle made it feel slow and boring.

It must be me, I dont like quick action throttles on motorbikes either. I like the initial travel to be quite a shallow gradient and then be steeper as you get closer to WOT.

I find I'm inclined to over rev on heel and toe at the moment, am sure I'll get used to it.... and have lots of fun doing so :-)

Best drive of my ownership today. Over to west Wales nice and early before any traffic. The car is wonderful and even though conditions were cold and damp in places it was brilliant fun. Brilliant handling, enough grunt to be fun, comfortable enough to be no chore in the dull parts.... brilliant.

Developed a rattle from the corner of the screen and a pillar (a pillar trim I think). But only at very high speed so it wasn't an issue and I'll give the area a good going over to try and stop it.

Very nice! Is it one of the Lotus Silverstone cars? They have a couple of supercharged SRs on the site at the moment and both look / read lovely.

I don't do enough longer drives, tend to pop out for a couple of hours but decided to head through the hills to the coast today. Last time I did that route was in the 911 I had before the Evora, both great, but the Evora is a load more involving.
