What should I expect from an Evora S
Discussion
Ok if someone browsing this thread is looking for an Evora S (MY11) then I could do with a flexible buyer that's willing to wait. I'm on the lookout for an R8 V10 (to have for a year or so,then it will be back to an Evora 400 I reckon) but one with the spec I want hasn't appeared yet.
Also I have some unfitted bargeboards going begging.

What colour and spec is the EvoraAlso I have some unfitted bargeboards going begging.
Starlight Black S - with Techpack (Sport pack is standard on the S). Vinyl Stripe nose to tail in dark grey.
36000miles
Clutch was replaced at 23,000miles
Brand new rear tyres and 4mm left on fronts
Lotus maintained
All known Evora issues fixed in early days of my ownership (will be 3 years in November) e.g.peeling headlights relaminated
Electric folding mirrors
MY12 gear linkage upgrade along with Gear knob from MY12 car.
Bad points:
Alloys need a refurb
Needs a professional detail to get it looking top notch.
I normally only keep cars about 18 months, but I couldn't find anything n my price range to replace it with and don't fancy a 911,but 2009/10 R8 V10's have dropped sub 60k now and holding value at that but Evora 400's have some more to drop.
AS I said not for sale yet but when I find an R8 V10 it will be straight on PH Classifieds.

Aside: driving buddy has a V10 R8 (amongst others). It sounds epic.
Does it though? I went in a convertible one last week and was very disappointed by the sound coming from the stock exhaust. Very muted for a V10 imo. Also, exhaust systems are 2.5k upwards fitted to really unleash the sound it deserves. stuno1 said:

Would be worth investing in a good aftermarket exhaust for the R8 if it is just the sound that is putting you off, at a recent (unsilenced) track day there was a R8 with one fitted that sounded amazing.I'm a bit concerned that the clutch needed replacing at ~23k, is that a common fault?

Yes! Straw poll that has run suggests clutches seem to be commonplace between 20k - 40k miles. I'm a bit concerned that the clutch needed replacing at ~23k, is that a common fault?

My current clutch is on 41k miles and seems fine
Fair enough - I am only going on hearsay. Mine was ok on 37k. Many seemed to go in the 30 something k range but only from what I was reading.
I also hadn't seen anyone doing them less ££s John? Some chap popped up on Seloc suggesting he would do them for circa £2k but when quizzed on how and his labour hours seemed less than convincing that he had experience on the matter.

and to be expected other than those that had been fitted incorrectly or those who abuse their clutches why wouldn't a robust clutch last many 1,000's of miles?
Because they're a known weak point It's not the west of the clutch that is excessive it's something to do with the plates and eventually it becomes very difficult then impossible to get in gear
