I'm keen to test drive a 410, certainly the initial reports are very positive.

The thing is, which Lotus dealers have them available for a test drive?

None yet. They've only built the 3 press cars so far.

Don't try the one in Hedge end they let me down on a 400 after I booked the day off work for a promised demo.

One member of the press managed to write one of (or at least from spun it and damaged the back end) those off the other day at Hethel!

The reviews are indeed excellent. I'm looking forward to seeing the 410 improvements trickle down to the rest of the range. The revised suspension, improved power, slicker gearbox and interior whilst keeping the rear seats and the rear glass.

I really want to buy another Lotus, even at c80k but I keep seem to be waiting for them to get it perfect. The 410 in a more road friendly format would be perfection for me.

I think you`ll find a new 400 is that car already. I started to look at the 400`s last year but could not justify the increase in cost over my 2013S, but eventually ordered one in June 2016 and have now put 1700 miles on it. It is the same car as it was a year or so ago, but it is perceivably better in every way, and I think it is in sum lots of little details...even my mate`s who are strictly not Lotus fans think it is superb and can justify its price tag.
Sure the 410 will be a bit sharper on a track, but the current car will be better 9/10ths of the time on the road. They definitely improve with miles aswell...I can`t wait to get over 20k when it will be properly loosened up.

I looked at a 410 and bought a 400 because I liked the idea of the 410 but wanted a more road-biased car. Look at the weight loss of the 410, then factor in that weight loss includes:

No stereo
No AC
No sound deadening
Half glazing in the rear
Bucket seats

How many of those things can you live with? I'd love the bucket seats, but not the rest. In reality you'd wind up with a car 30kg lighter, maybe, and 10hp more. But stiffer and still compromised.

Central will have a demonstrator from the end of this month, I expect other dealers to follow. Where are you based? I'm more than happy to take you out in my 400

You looked at a 410 but bought a 400?

Er, the 410 has only effectively just been released yet you bought your 400 months ago. How does that work? confused

Because the 410 was announced months ago (Geneva), so it wasn't really a surprise was it?

As Cocopops says. I was looking at 400s in March time, the 410 was announced about three-four weeks before I eventually put my money down. At the time it was due in around June but I had a few too many question marks about it, so went with the 400.

In terms of PHYSICALLY having actually SEEN the vehicle, there was no car I was able to see back then (one reason I didn't order), I only saw one in the flesh for the first time last week.

I test drove the 400 at Castle (Stansted) auto. Nice car, but didn't wow me enough
to get one there and then. It felt very much like my existing Evora with just a bit
more power, plus the looks didn't wow me either.

Will see what the new TVR is like and then either get that, a Merc AMG GT, the 400 or
one of the suped up F-types.

Problem is lead times on some of these cars. I can imagine a 2 year + waiting list for the TVR frown
