Talk to me about Exiges please - supercharged varieties

Always fancied an Exige with the supercharged toyota engine and might be in a position to purchase one.
Obviously a specific lotus forum may be better but what do I need to be aware of and what pitfalls to check sorted?
Budget would be 35k ish and it would be summer use /odd trackday only.
Obviously aware of risk of any accident damage to chassis and how popular they are for trackdays etc.
Values seem to hold up well, are prices slowly dropping or stable?

Look for chassis and clam damage, engine wear (smoke and rattles), service history (every 12 months or 9k miles so some visits can be skipped on low mileage garage queens). Check the gearchange especially from 3rd down to 2nd as it's a weak point.
Stone chips on the front clam are common so don't let that put you off
They're pretty hard wearing otherwise and for £35k you should be able to get a good post 2009 car.
Go on history and condition rather than mileage.

There are 2 different Toyota engines, the earlier ones rev much higher, i've just bought a 2014 Elise S CR which has the later engine, sort of wish it would rev a bit harder, it's quite quick just doesn't feel it. Am hoping a 2bular exhaust will add some character.

i wasnt aware of that, thanks. Supercharged Exiges with the Toyota 2zz engine were produced from around 2006 to 2011, the Exige then went V6 from 2013 onwards.

I've spoken to Will and it does need new sill covers plates or something so it looks like it's the same car. I'll enquire about the service history and receipts etc. I also saw it for sale at 35k previously last year when I bought my 993.

Will B has very good reputation on SELOC so you won't find chassis damage etc - no way he'd be selling a car with that - he knows what he's looking for. If you are wanting to do trackdays then you may end up putting in a harness bar and changing the seats to motorsport ones - it may be easier to look for a car with those from the off, or negotiate them into the car. The bar is cheap but the seats aren't (looking at £1000+ for a pair of Lotus Probax m/sport seats and they get snapped up very quickly, so you have to be lucky). Having said that, the fact that it doesn't have them may mean it hasn't spent too much time on track. Will probably knows that too!
Issues on mine (same year) are mainly aircon-related, which can be quite pricey to fix as the pipes go through the sills, and if fubar'd they need replacing, which is time-consuming. Also Radiator (if it has been replaced it's a big plus).
Well worth joining Seloc or Exiges.com - I'd be surprised if the former owner isn't on one or the other.
I'd say on balance that S2 values are stable, except the cup models which are on the rise. I have an RGB and it's probably still worth what I paid for it 3 years ago. S1s are going up (30s for good ones), S3s coming down towards the low 40s, so you might want to have a shot in one (the V6) just in case.
