Well, I'm sure somebody could make you a body and stick it on the Evora for the extra 20 grand you'd be spending on that, so you could have it both ways wink

Good point.

I really hope the new Esprit is a 'looker' it's so important with an emotive purchase like these...

that is a really nice looking car!! I think the only thing that takes away from the Evora is the rear shot and how the hatch comes to such a squeeze to the roof line, its fugly. The rear looks rinky-dink if you know what I mean.

BUT I havent seen it in the flesh yet so I will save my final opinion until then. Lotus cars in general are not photogenic IMO.

Saw one in the flesh at the London Lotus dealer and was far from impressed.

That Artega is a really good looking machine - it makes the Evora look a bit over-complicated, hopefully it'll make up for things in the dynamics department

Pity about the internal trim on the Artega - it doesn't really match the high spec exterior.

Why not just buy a 'farbio' then? I'm sure he'd take 50k if you offered it. Personally I much prefer the looks of the evora to either this or the 'artega' and really could they not think up any better names than farbio or artega? As redards the driving and chassis development and packaging the evora will be lightyears away from these garden shed specials.

always liked what they came up with, it's got a proper engine too.

Sorry to barge in (I'm usually in the porsche forum), but is the general concensus of opinion that the Evora is a disappointment, at least in the looks department? If so that's a shame as I have to say I think it looks like one stunning car - the kind that makes you sell your shirt to own!

What do you all think the knock-on effect of the Evora on the Elise will be, in time?

Cheers,
Adam

When I picked up my Exige from London Lotus at Park Lane they had an orange one, nice but not smack in the face nice.

very gracious of you to come from the Porsche forum with something complimentary to say about a lotus, it doesn't happen often! I think the evora looks good and I'm sure it will drive spectacularly well, hopefully better even than the cayman. However I think many here feel it could do with being lighter still and I for one would like to see a more powerful, higher revving engine in it. I mean the old lotus slant four 2.2 used to rev higher! There is a faster version on the way but it's likely to be supercharged. Many will like that but I'd prefer higher revs and angry cams.
Lookswise as mentioned it's good looking (but then so is a Europa) and most people here would prefer it looked a bit more like how you see it. An exige to my eyes is better looking, certainly more aggressive and that design's been with us a while now.

Mr Pits I'm just a car nut like everyone else on here! I appreciate any car that is good at what is designed to do.

I really really like the cars looks and from what I've seen in autocar it promises to handle sublimely.
I hear what you're saying about the engine, but isn't this more of a GT than the elise? Perhaps in the spirit of the esprit?

Anyway I do hope the car is a commercial success. It will be something British we can all be proud of for a change!
