It makes the other orange in stock look poor in comparison.
Indeed - it was the Burnt Orange one that I'd gone to see as I had that in my Top 3 list of colour preferences (along with Solar Yellow and Ice White) but one glance at Justin's and it was 'no contest', it just made the other one look somewhat battle weary. If my good lady's job wasn't currently under threat, a deposit would have been paid there and then. I've even got a reg on retention, just waiting for the perfect car to put it on - which Justin's is, it's just come along at the worst possible time.
......and before any soap-box warriors get up to protest, yes I know that's a 'show only' plate - it will wear fully legal ones on the Queen's Highway.
Thanks alfa, I really did look after it. I've just re-read through this thread to remember all the good times. I miss it, a lot!
I was in Murray's at the weekend aswell and couldn't help but have a look around it. Chrome Orange is THE lotus colour IMO.
Someone please buy it to stop me looking at it!

Are you having second thoughts about moving it on for the Aston or, on balance, are you happy to have made the change?I was in Murray's at the weekend aswell and couldn't help but have a look around it. Chrome Orange is THE lotus colour IMO.

Two weeks in, I'm in two minds.
Part of me says, I was in the PH classifieds on a daily basis, and was itching for a change.
The other part of me is saying the Evora was an fantastic all round car, and I probably shouldn't have sold it.
The Vantage is great though. I doubt I'll keep it as long as the Evora though

New exige perfect next car?Part of me says, I was in the PH classifieds on a daily basis, and was itching for a change.

Beware the classifieds!
Justin I was fortunate to own a V12 Vantage for a couple of years and it really was an exquisite car, beautifully made and with details inside and out to shame any Porsche or Ferrari I've ever sat in. I never tired of looking at it, washing it, waxing it and taking photos, nor hearing the V12 erupt into life.
It was also a great car to drive, very responsive, lovely compact footprint on the road, must be the most compact V12 engined car ever. But the V8 shares the unique dimensions which are a real plus on UK roads compared to other exotics.
However, I sold it and bought an Exige V6. Depreciation and running costs were a bit scary for me (although servicing is more reasonable than Ferrari and Lambo) and I think I was punching above my weight somewhat! To be honest all that prestige and luxury was a bit wasted on me. Having tried everything under the sun and bought way too many cars, I've learned the hard way that no other car maker quite hits the spot for me like Lotus. The Vantage is a better road car but the Exige is hands down better (and more affordable to use) on the track. Since getting stopped in France for speeding twice in two trips I now realize that our traditional playground for supercars is now out of bounds so the best fun I can have in a car is on the track and that's where the Exige delivers like nothing else.
But I don't regret buying the V12 Vantage, I wish I could afford to have kept it. Aston Martin have to be my second favourite brand it was a privilege and a pleasure to own one. Trouble is, once you've gotten used to the communication, poise and dynamic polish of an Evora and that was always going to be a tough act to follow. But for the time being you have an Aston Martin V8 Vantage in the garage. That's not bad going at all. Enjoy it while it lasts!

Thanks for the thread Justin. This sort of real world daily living with a car is pretty much what I am looking for when I get to disposing of the Cruze and go looking for what will be my "mad phase" car. Hopefully the Evora will be on the list and it is great to see that they are not a money pit!

Yeah you should definitely try one Pits - I know what you mean. The Vantage doesn't excite like a Lotus, well it does, but in a different way. Different cars for different people I guess, but I would actually put myself more in the Lotus camp as well. I'll be back one day, nothing quite like a Lotus
Wasn't me, .
I came very close, but in the end it was 'no cigar'. Damn my good lady's employers - why can't they just tell her what's happening with her job (we've been awaiting an announcement for nearly a year now, ) so I know whether to keep looking or not.
I hope it wasn't someone too local that's bought it as seeing it around will just rub salt in my wounds.

I've really enjoyed reading your write ups and you've seemed to have given me a slight dilemma!!
With values as they are I'm looking to sell my 993 Turbo and was looking to play it safe and go for a gen2 Cayman which I believe to be an easier and cheaper car to live with.
However having owned an Elise for a short time I can say I'm a real Lotus fan and seeing as you've owned yours for three years would be interested on how much you've paid out on maintenance etc. My only real concern is the horror stories of replacing the clutch. Any other input would be much appreciated.
PS
How did the Evora compare with the Lamborghini Gallardo
cheers
