You prat. The important part of that was 'in a straight line'. The subtle difference is between a functional platform and a genuinely sporting one. You know that, but chose to ignore it to make your point.
thanks for the compliment....and may I refer you again to the context of my post yet again?
I know reading is a challenge for you, but please at least try

Um, with a mere 335 PS in a car that weighs a tonne and a half? Sonds more like the 0-100 mph time to me....
just goes to show how fast it is then.I did vmax last week, My cars way quicker than the Astons, BMW m3's and the new 400BHp 911 GTS by quite along way.
I got some vbox figures from the event, not a lot is going to keep up lol, this is from 30 to 120mph
with a 0-60mph in about 3.5 and a 0-100mph in 8.5, thats what I mean about performance and makes most things feel slow.
30.00 0
40.00 0.59
50.00 1.20
60.00 1.89
70.00 3.30
80.00 4.19
90.00 5.22
100.00 6.72
110.00 8.08
120.00 9.75

who said anything about an S3?
and the point that was being made is that 5 sec's to 60(/2) is not exactly fast in this day and age.
going from standstill to 60 in 5 seconds will always be quick. Irrespective of what it is in or what other cars can match or beat it. It may not be quickest or quicker, but it is unarguably quick.and the point that was being made is that 5 sec's to 60(/2) is not exactly fast in this day and age.

I bet if feels quick, special and is able of very good lap times.
BUT, a 3.5 liter supercharged sportscar accelerating slower than a competitor N/A is not a fine achievement in this respect. A fact.
Maybe they ooncentrated on other things so that their car would get great reviews? Maybe the time is down to the somewhat awkward Toyota gearbox they had to use. Either way, very rare you get the chance to accelerate from a standstill unrestricted on a NSL, whereas tackling a flowing b-road is something you can do every time. In gear acceleration to pass traffic is also very good in my experience.BUT, a 3.5 liter supercharged sportscar accelerating slower than a competitor N/A is not a fine achievement in this respect. In all seriousness, when I've been driving anything vaguely fast and exotic, the only people who are interested in "is it quicker than car xxxx" or "how fast is it" questions, are seven year old kids and chavvy blokes at the petrol station. They're the same group of people who will always have a friend who has a Honda Civic that is faster, an Audi they've tuned to 500bhp or something similar. Good luck to them.
Now, someone asking "how do you get on with it?", or "taken it anywhere nice?" probably understands why you're driving that particular car better than anyone asking if you could out-drag a Veyron or their mate's imaginary rocket.

to a point, your right, however! Now, someone asking "how do you get on with it?", or "taken it anywhere nice?" probably understands why you're driving that particular car better than anyone asking if you could out-drag a Veyron or their mate's imaginary rocket.
Most car review's, manufacturers sales blurb, etc all play the top trumps game, and you can hardly be surprised with potential customers do the same (Nurburgring laptime/0-62/0-100/etc etc.)
Also, vastly more importantly, customers at this area of the market will be using these as only cars, so they need to be convinced that their car is going to be 100% reliable, and in the unlikely event of issues, have a strong/quality dealer network and customer service to back this up with.
Indeed. This site (fastestlaps.com) can absorb a pointless afternoon comparing cars with each other. The headline article at the moment paints an interesting picture of the practises Ferrari are alleged to follow in order to win Top Trumps.
It shouldn't be surprising how far cars can be mis-matched for straight line speeds, yet competitive on track.

I test-drove a n/a car, plenty quick enough though clearly best to be able to keep up momentum...what I liked is potential to use more of the performance more of the time...feel like u can use all it's got, 0-100 mph is all very wellt, but I'd rather be driving a twisty b road where 100mph isn't relevant...of course I've also done the power thing lol

Just had an extensive test drive of the S today and absolutely loved it, I'll save the full review for the lotus diaries but from a confirmed Porschephile, I'd have one of these over a basic 911 every day. The handling was pin sharp, it sounded great and stopped well...... The only negatives were that the brakes were over servoed, it was lacking in mid range grunt and the supposed standard LSD was crap! These are tiny niggles though as when really pressing on the brake feel was fine, above 5000 revs the engine was a delight and I reckon my test car was accidentally (hand built) devoid of the LSD....... It wouldn't replace my turbo s but I'd have it over a Carrera!

Apparently LSD is standard on the S, missing in the one I test drove.
Justin is correct, the Evora doesn't have an LSD. However it does have EDL (Electronic Diff Lock) that was developed by Bosch and is part of the DPM system (as well as ESC, HBA & T/C). The car you drove would have had it otherwise it wouldn't have run.Ah I see, salesman assured me it had, then went and checked and confirmed it, never mind it's a crap system, I turned off the traction control and tried everything to get it to powerslide, however it just spun up the inside wheel no matter how aggressive I was and went in a straight line
I did manage to provoke it with the traction control on at high speed in the wet and it allowed a pleasant amount of slip......... Great handling car, just doesn't let you go mad !

and for the general motoring masses this is perfect, a car that doesnt ´go mad´ and spin when provoked.
you, I and the few who know about these things will find a way round it no doubt but if it makes you faster round a particular circuit then that´s a good thing right?
as long as it stays fun yes (and it does stay lots of fun in an Evora!)you, I and the few who know about these things will find a way round it no doubt but if it makes you faster round a particular circuit then that´s a good thing right?
