Manilvalife is pretty much a dead duck nowadays

I'd stay away from all the expat forums if you want to remain vaguely sane and not brainwashed by self-righteous, bored, retired people with nothing better to do than tell you how st everything is.

Feel free to fire over any specific questions about the Fuengirola-Sotogrande stretch via PM if you want though
Yes that's about right, but the only site I know of, probably because I was removed twice due to having an opinion

Oh you can't have an opinion on expat sites, not unless you're one of the chosen few! I had a restaurant review removed from there as they were advertisers and I'd posted about how dreadful it was there (second visit, both times bad!)

Are you in the Manilva area too?

Duquesa, when I get time off work, just been down for a long weekend doing my power boat level 2, really didn't want to fly back on Monday, where are you?

Nice one, pop into the port for a couple sometime, completely off topic, you wouldn't happen to know a decent motorcycle mechanic in the area would you?

Its a long way off for me,
my intention is to rent between new year and easter
then come back,
And if you get bored you can jsut book elsewhere
If i were buying i would probably look towards mojacar area,
maybe with brits nearby but not too close.

i would miss my friends and family too much

Mojacar is a decent shout and on our shortlist for the future. Maybe further east - Nerja would be great. With a slight twist as my other half is Spanish and we have a baby. But as I'm an oldish dad the hope is to mostly retire, move to Spain and other half can work a bit longer (8 year age gap) and the wee chap can do most of his school years in Spain - which based on the rest of the Spanish part of the family, seems to be a good thing.

We have a small villa in La Barossa, Andalusia. It is a lovely spot with plenty to do, enough brits about to socialise but you can take it or leave it, a lot more relaxed than the Marbella side and a lot more 'Spanish'. We currently rent our place during the busier periods and the plan is to eventually retire there. Spent quite a bit of time finding the right place but bargains can be had with lots of homework and research. We are about 1km from the beach.

Hi Mark,
Should you find yourself on the Costa Del Sol, 7 years ago my father set up a very successful Classic car club down there. Please don't be put off by the 'Classic' bit as in truth it's more of a social club for like minded Petrol Heads! The first Saturday of every month is an organised jaunt out into the countryside usually coincided with a cracking lunch stop somewhere. Club night is the first Tuesday of every month and regularly sees 150 plus people joining for dinner.
I live on the coast, have done for about 12 years. Which club is this? I'd be interested in joining. I go to the Ferrari club meets on Sundays sometimes but they don't really do much!

Hi Justin,

I assume his Dad is Ian in which case it would be the Classic Car Club of Andalucia - http://www.cccandalucia.com/
