Thinking about it, the root cause of my problem is the door that leads out to the roof terrace, I have a duplex apartment, it faces the sea and when the rain comes down it leaks like a sieve causing the water to cascade down the steps and into my lounge. Any remedies for this ?

A weather strip. It's the metal strip that you step over in a U.K. house, but they don't fit them in Spain. They seem to think it's aceptable to let the leaves and dust (and in your case rain) blow under the door!
You could take an inch off the bottom of your door, and lay a piece of mable down, level with the bottom of the outside of the door, then put a drip strip on the bottom of your door (a 45 degree pice of wood with a groove cut on the bottom edge) which will let the water runn off in front of the marble, and not under the door.
Hope you followed that! smile

The only other way is as you have suggested but with the addition of a water bar with the wooden stormboard on the bottom of the door rebated over it.

Hi Guys. This is my first posting on the forum so I'd just like to apologise that its not a real life picture of the 1958 Ford Nucleon Concept but a request on my shared problem. We own an attic apartment in Elda in Alicante (its right next to Petrer maybe a bit better known??) and the same issue. Top floor Terrace is leaking and destroying downstairs neighbours roof. I've already gone over and fully grouted it and siliconed up holes where the acid rain has eaten away at the door sliders where the water just sat and couldn't escape, however it hasn't satisfied the insurance company. We were quoted €3000 - €4000 euro to lift up tiles, I assume lay the Tela Asfaltica and relay tiles, which for a 47 m2 terrace seems very very excessive so I politely told him....no. Here's my bid for help, How simple is laying the tela asfaltica and do I need to remove the old one or can I relay new one on top (running 90 degrees to way old one was laid) do i need to paint it with the Litol paint, can it be done on top of T.A and really how long does it need before the tiles can be laid on top?? Sorry again guys and really hope you can help!! Muchas gracias

How do you know what is under the old tela asfaltica ?..............and what other problems that you are hiding especially existing water ingress which is causing problems at the moment, really all needs to be taken up and then re-laid and now is the time to do it with our summer.
