Bilbao - Costa Del Sol

At the beginning of May I'll be taking the Lambo down to Manilva.
I normally sail across to Santander and head down, but this time I'll be going to Bilbao, so I was wandering if anyone could suggest a decent route, ie great scenery, a little bit challenging, but also be able to get the old foot down a bit, as I like to do the journey the same day.

I dont try to do the run in 1 day and normally stay a night in Madrid or Toledo.
Just starting to plan my next trip down as well.

I used to live in the North of Spain, a run we used to was Bilbao-Burgos-Palencia-Zamora-Salamanca for a 1 night stopover in the Parador then onto Plasencia-Caceres-Merida-Zafra-Seville & on down to the edge of Algeciras and then on along the N340 to Manilva.

Your run will take you down through Extramadera & where the best Jamon Serrano comes from with lots of villages with opportunities to buy Jamon & Salchicas & Chorizos.
