Ive followed Lincon City through thick & thin, the play offs three seasons in a row, the great Keith Alexander years, then the constant annus horribuls since, but i never thought today would come.

So, farewell to all the great memories, farewell to Sincil Bank, soon to be a housing estate.

As an Exeter city supporter I was there around this time in 2003 to see us fall from the league.

It was utterly st at the time, skint club, corrupt board and players who didn't want to be there. The following 5 years in the conference were fantastic, we went to all kinds of weird and wonderful places, played some tiny clubs and upset some massive clubs (Man Utd).
We, the fans also gained control of the club.

After a dress rehearsal at wembley in 07 we won promotion in 08 back to te league, and then went straight up to L1.

This season, our 2nd in L1 we finished 8th equalling our best finish ever, and are the only trust owned club in the league.

Chin up, rebuild, and enjoy the non league adventure smile

Chin up, you managed to match our (Halifax Town's) record of being relegated from the league twice! Since the last one in 2002 we've reached the conference play-off final, narrowly avoided relegation only to go out of business and be demoted 3 divisions. FC Halifax Town have since had back to back promotions as champions, and will be playing in Conference North next season! Away days at Fylde, Garforth and Woodley Sports remind you what football really should be about! smile

sadly, i cant see LCFC staying afloat, its widely known that we are on a lease back agreement from a well known property developer who owns Sincil Bank, and we have struggled to pay the players for the last half the season.

i see sincil bank becoming nothing more than a street name on a trendy housing estate.

I was listening to R5 yesterday as it unfolded and if you'd stayed up would the cracks have been papered over do you think? Maybe it's best to go down and build up again - was the lease conditional on League football - or will the ground owner be rubbing his hands now?

And if you leave there - where else is there to play? Coningsby Town? I have no idea?

Meanwhile at Underhill ...

Shame for any team to go down. I am a lifelong Barnet fan - I was resigned to The Bees being relegated and if that were to happen I couldn't see us coming up in a hurry.

2009-2010 Barnet and Lincoln finished alongside each other in the table. What have both clubs done to improve? From Barnet's point of view they need more money - getting 1400 people a game is not enough. I live near Luton and they regulaly get 6000 - yes 6000 fans.

Barnet fans come out of the woodwork to see the last nail biting game but where will they be next season?

Again OP, shame for any team - thought it would be us - in many ways deserved to be us over you.

Bury fan here. Always a shame to see a club relegated, but things can always change for the better. 12 months can make a big difference. We have gone from relegation fodder to promotion in a few years. So keep the faith it can change. Best of luck next year and keep supporting the team wherever they play..thumbup

This. We had over 4000 at Halifax on New Year's day for the Evostik premier clash with FC United. On the flip side, Ossett Town managed an attendance of 65 for a match in the same league a few weeks earlier.

Burton Albion fan here. Its good to see people supporting there LOCAL team and not either
A) Man U
B) Chelsea
C) Any other Premiership side that is approximately 200 miles from where they live.

Hope it all works out for Lincoln City and they rebuild stronger.

I'm a Norwich City fan but used to go and watch Lincoln City when I was in the RAF stationed at Cranwell. It's always sad when a club gets relegated but i hope that Lincoln will bounce back straight away and be a stronger club.

I'm a Sheffield Wednesday supporter and have fond memories of 'awaydays' to lincoln back in the eighties...never seemed to able to get back to sheffield on the same day...but thats another story.

I hope you bounce back but i've been watching Fleetwood Town for the last couple of sesons and that conference is a mean old league to get out of

I'm a Mansfield Town fan and - although we lost - it was great to see 25,000 people at Wembley for the FA Trophy last Saturday - shame they can't all go to Field Mill every week.

After three average seasons in the Conference (62 or 61 points each season - you can't say we're not consistent) it's amazing the number of "league" teams there are in the conference.

(AFC) Wimbledon, Wrexham, Luton Town, Darlington, York City, Newport County, Kettering, Cambridge United

There's some great names there.

I remember going to see Mansfield play Lincoln years ago. Phil Stant was manager of Lincoln, so got some stick. Stags scored in the opening minutes with a screamer. Not long after, the ball came into the crowd and my dad caught it and threw it back. He said, "I've been coming to football for fifty odd years and that's the first time that's happened". Stags won the game 5-2 IIRC

Best of luck in getting back into the league, but only if you finish second behind the Stags.

Yeovil Town fan here. Only went to Sincil Bank the once, in 2003/04 when we came to the Bank needing to win by five goals to get into the playoffs combined with a set of results falling our way. Didn't do it but I remember the peaceful pitch invasion afterwards that might have gone wrong but thankfully didn't.

Also remember you coming to Huish Park the following season when we won 3-0 to win League Two. Great day, one of the best in our history, and your away support played their part.

Good luck OP.

Stockport, my team, down in the conference next season, too.

That's around 110 years of league history gone.

I really fear for them now - they don't own their ground, they have no money, and only limited support, due to all the other Manchester clubs around them.

And to think it's not that long ago they came close to promotion to the Premier League - finishing 8th in the old Division 1 in 1998.

Well, amazing what 5 8 half years can do!

We survived, unlike my username ;-

And what job its been. Sutton, Tilson, i honestly thought we were just going from disaster to disaster until Bob Dorrian got involved.

Bringing in investment and then the Cowleys, what a great achievment....

As for our results this year..... wow.... Dreamland.

My username went west as well ...

Glad you've survived and things area lot more positive now.

Do you want a home draw to another minnow?

Or away at OT/Emirates to get the most revenue you can?

I think I can probably guess!
