Watching Villa v Boro and really wondering how Villa are where they are in the Prem. And while I'm at it I'd like to nominate Martinez as the world's most annoying goalkeeper.
Boro had 11 men behind the ball most of the games, some teams are just hard to break down. All the top keepers in the world have been hated by opposition at some point in their career

So we were all completely wrong. Stevie G is the World’s Best Football Manager and well worth his £15m per year after all. laugh

Odd, how last week his 7th place finish last term and current 8th position with no win in 8 matches were supposed to mean his sacking.

The man is a parasite, stealing a living as a football manager. He is a big name though and that's what the Saudis want.
The great news is that it stops him stinking up the English leagues.

I have blanked him out of my memory, TBH, I did it after that opening away game at Bournemouth

LOL, they really must have money to burn! Thank goodness we don't have to suffer his turgid uninspiring dross anymore.

After that aberration against Spurs last weekend I'm absolutely delighted with the result tonight. Sounded like a really good performance and a cracking atmosphere, just wish I could've been there! A bit worrying that Watkins and Carlos came off, we've had rotten luck with knee injuries this season so fingers crossed Ollie's knee is okay...

Good game, thumped Ajax without really working too hard.

Ollie looked more precautionary than anything to worry about. Picked up a gash and a bruise on his knee.

I thought this thread would have had a couple of comments after that performance at the Emirates today - there wasn't one of your players who was below par. Watkins was excellent, as was Bailey - and Tielemans put is a decent performance and the defence is very strong. WOuld love to see you guys get that fourth CL spot and bring the good old European Cup nights back to Villa Park.

Not a Villa fan, but you were really good today - particularly in the second half. Made Arsenal look very ordinary.

Had to be out during the game as had to go and collect my new to me (4 wheeled, V8 powered) toy, so had it recorded and just finished watching.

Excellent performance from us we have been a bit lacklustre of late but today was the sort of performance we know we are capable of, particularly satisfying when we think how many first team players are out (Mings, Buendia, Ramsey, Luiz, Kamara).
The wheels were starting to come off a little bit the last couple of weeks with Spurs catching us, but Unai has firmly bolted them back on. We only have ourselves to blame if we don't get 4th spot, but even if we don't, it has still been an excellent season.

I will just say that Morgan Rogers is getting better by the game - I really think the kid will do wonders.

Of course the pundits and reports are all about how poor Arsenal were and not how good Villa were. Don't care - Unai is doing the both the talking and the walking.

Doing the double over Arsenal, it's not for everyone! hehe

I'm still on cloud 9. I live in commuting distance of London and have spent 25yrs working in an office full of Gooners, I've had to suck it up a lot over the years. Typically today I am working from home!

Arsenal battered us the first half, I must admit that rather than watch the HT punditry I just went an got all my 9yo's stuff ready for return to school today. I honestly thought we'd come back and be on the end of a 4-0 thumping. Emery really does know how to motivate his team in his half time team talk.

I've really got to single out Tielemans for praise. When we signed him I thought he was a bit of an ego merchant and didn't really rate him, but he was absolutely class yesterday, never stopped battling and provided the assist for both goals.

This is an interesting statistic. Villa has the best Premier League record this season of all of the top 4 teams when playing each other.

Villa: 9 points from 5 matches so far
Arsenal: 8 points from all 6 matches
Liverpool: 6 points from 5 matches so far
Man City: 6 points from all 6 matches

Bearing that in mind it’s strange to see that Man City are first and Villa are fourth!

I'd hate him if he wasn't our keeper, but ..... hehe

Like most people I thought the second yellow was a sending off and was having palpitations about who would replace him between the sticks, seems like most viewers didn't know about the in-play yellow cards expiring after extra time.

When you look at the great keepers, they’re usually a bit overconfident/cocky and wind up the opposition. Take Neuer for example. Does anyone know if Martinez is suspended for the next match because of this? Don’t fancy relying on Robin Olsen.

Off to VP again on Sunday, so hoping for a great atmosphere.

Just bought 4 tickets to the UCL semi-final home leg. £108 all-in for two adults, one under 21 and one under 18. But Jesus, the AVFC ticketing website is hopeless when it gets a bit busy. Took me 30 minutes from selecting seats to completing the transaction! More stressful than watching the match.
