Sad to see the way things have gone. Houllier/McLeish were disasters following overspending with MoN, so now we're paying for piss poor decisions. I dont expect us to go down, but it's gonna be bloody close.
Personally we should have gone down last season, i feel for Lambert as he has no support, he should never of quit Norwich to come to us, we dont deserve him, i think his intentions were to build a club with a mix of young and experienced talent, but he has been badly let down by the board.Confidence is the lowest i have ever seen at Villa Park and only god knows how you pick those chins up, but one thing is for sure, its time for Lerner to find a new owner, he obviously has no interest
Eh?
This is the same Randy Lerner who bankrolled a whole load of purchases by Lambert and who has said there is another £10M available.
Go and look at the top spending clubs over the past few seasons and see where Villa rank. Higher than you'd think.
Whatever the problem is, it's not the chairman and his refusal to open his wallet.

Saints fan here, checking in not to gloat but to say sorry for the dive, pretty blatant cheating! However, from the clips looked like if benteke had has his shooting boots on you'd have got at least a point. is there any improvement since Lambert took over? Are they at least a bit better to watch?

I think the problem is the injuries and illnesses of our experiences players. All this talk of Bent being left out all the time, but he's been picking up niggly injuries left, right and centre. That leaves Dunne with a long term injury, Vlaar also injured, Petrov, our captain, is battling leukemia, Agbonlahor looks 3 stone heavier than he's ever been, N'Zogbia is quality, but isn't the sort to work for team and Shay Given can hardly rouse the team from the goal. We're slightly better to watch than last season when on the attack, but I wince whenever the other team is even on the attack. I think Lambert come in with some goals and wanted to mix experience and youth which promptly backfired when they all got injured, won't perform and can't seem to lead by example where it matters.
We have plenty of decent young players, but we need to sign some good old heads and a very good playmaker to mix it up this month.
Congratulations on not gloating.
Lambert's has to take some blame for that, 2-0 up and he decides to set the team to defend the lead. He should have learned that this team can't defend so they would be better continuing to hit WBA on the break.
And if it's true that playing Bent will cost money, does it matter at the moment?

I'm just happy to not be in the drop zone at the minute. I also didn't realise Newcastle were doing so bad until they showed the league after MOTD last night. If we can out perform them in the next two games it would really pile the pressure on and despite their quality they could continue to slip.

Well six pointer for our next home league game......NewcastleWhen I think of the position our great club is in I have to console myself with the thought that it could be worse.

The Blues have been in that position for a while with their finances. Zigic is reportedly on £55,000 a week! In the Championship! I think they're only 5 points out of the drop zone too.
I miss going to the derby game, the last one I was at was the 5-1 smashing of them. I do miss my season ticket in the Holte End, just can't justify the money now or have anyone to go with.
