Grant Holt on loan.

Whilst this doesn't set my world on fire, he was a handful at Norwich, is a tough physical player and can bag a goal or two. Hasn't figured much at Wigan but they've had a change of manager so I'm not reading too much into that. He's probably what we need (for not much outlay) to cover Kozak's absence whilst scrabbling for lower mid-table obscurity, only paying his wages not a silly fee.

What we really need is a dominant midfielder who can break up play and ease the pressure on our less than impressive defence!

Norwich fan here (.. in peace smile ). I hope GH has been asked to jog down the M6 to sign for you boys, he was a 'gret-ol unit' (a Norfolk-ism for slightly rotund) in his last days down here, goodness knows sort of size he is now what with all those pies on hand at Wiggun. Still, he would run through walls for Lambert at our place so could do a job for you. Like us I'm sure you'll take goals from any source at the moment and with our history of facing ex-players, it is a stone-cold certainty Holt will score against us at your place in March.

As a bloke carrying a bit of excess timber on the 5-a-side pitch myself I'm loathe to criticise!

Cheers, March could be a difficult month for us, away at both Manchester clubs and Chelsea at home, so getting a result against Norwich could be vital. Our home form is risible, so if the lad can hit a cow's arse witha banjo I don't much care how big his own one is! smile

We've got Ryan Bertrand on loan. News of that passed me by yesterday somehow and I really hope he's thrown in straight at left back today to be honest. Luna would simply get battered by Sturridge, Suarez and Sterling. Bertrand is a great loanee for the rest of the season.

I am fearing the worst for today, but I'd like to see us have a good go like the last 20 against Arsenal.

A point at Anfield - I'd have taken that before kick off....

Didn't see it but it sounds like it was a much better performance than of late.

Never a penalty, but we all know what he's like . Decent point at the end of the day though.

Because it's being done in public I assume a buyer has already been lined up.

He'd look at bit of a fool putting a For Sale board on Villa park if he's still in charge when the next season starts.

It was only a way of making a fast buck well about £140 Million bucks on top of the money he has already made.

I'm not sure we're an attractive enough proposition for a super wealthy owner to put big time and investment in. Relegation would be a near impossible task for us to come back from I feel, Lambert said invesment is needed and it needs it in the first team before it is too late.

I just hope we don't get a Mickey Mouse owner who will pile the debts up.

One of the reports I read suggested that the £200M asking price represented a £100M loss when weighed against the money spent on the club.....

He paid £64 for the club and got the club to repay that debt and i think that tv income and player sales would cover the rest.

The early years of Lerner's tenure were very positive, alas 2010 onwards has been a continual downward spiral into repeated relegation scraps. I look back on the dark days of David O'Dreary, and despite him being Mr Unpopular, none of his teams would've shipped 18 points to Fulham, Stoke and Palace, I don't think.

So whilst I'm pleased to see us up for sale in some respects, there's a huge amount of 'be careful what you wish for' in regards to a new owner (qv Venkys, Vincent Tan, Gillet & Hicks, Carson Yeung).

It's a given that anybody buying the club will be only interested in making a huge wedge, that is unfortunately the nature of the beast these days, across 'the greatest league in the world(tm)'. Let's just hope it is somebody who vaguely has a clue, and having their own man on board will get rid of the totally inept Paul Faulkner. byebye

Although I would never would have admitted it at the time, I miss the days when football wasn't so awash with money and we were Doug Ellis' vanity project! tumbleweed

Last 5 seasons Villa had the 6th highest net spend per season...hardly no investment.

Don't get me wrong - I'm no particular fan of Randy Lerner but you're just plain wrong in suggesting that he hasn't funded the club.

Look at the figures here for spending in the transfer market:

http://www.transferleague.co.uk/premiership-transf...

Since he took over in 2006, Villa's net spend in the transfer market is (by my quick mental maths) around £110M. Other than 2011/12, when the sale of Young and Downing brought in £37M, money spent on purchases has substantially outweighed money received from sales - even in the supposed austerity years recently, when Lambert was under pressure to cut costs.

As I understand it, the training facilities have also had a lot of money spent on them too.

It's time for RL to move on - his heart is no longer in it (if indeed it ever was) - but to those applauding at his soon-to-be-departure and lambasting him, be careful what you wish for.

The news a couple of weeks ago suggested he had been in discussions with a conglomerate of US businessmen, fronted by a couple of billionaires. Do you really think they will have any interest in the club's heritage? The best we can probably hope for if they proved to be the buyers is that they don't hock the club's assets up to the eyeballs to finance their purchase (like the Glazers) and don't look to squeeze the club dry.

listening to radio 5 last night and there was a debate on how attractive Villa is as a club right now. 4 successive relegation battles, the relative wealth of the other teams and the ability to make the fanbase much larger.

They said that Lerner had put in £300m over the years including buying the club and would want a significant sum for it, but could not raise an argument why someone would put in 100's of £millions when the club has not performed.

I'd see Villa differently as the city is large, the opportunity massive and there is a history to build on.....

How long will Lambert last?
