In response to the pitch invasion, the football authorities have an opportunity to right a huge wrong.
I lived in the West Midlands for 30 years. Some people are still serving a life sentence there.
Such hardship is unconscionable. The ordeal is exacerbated by Birmingham City and Aston Villa.

Aston Villa is a club without merit or purpose and should be closed.
Villa Park could be turned into a kebab shop, or a mosque.
Or both.
It sounds more like you soent 30 years in Samali heath.
Soli-halal actually. Daily commute to Walsall.
Now there's a proper football club. Home of the Balti pie!

Watched the last 20-25 mins as a neutral.

WBA Second Yellow? Ridiculous! You suspect the sending off of Villa player was the ref trying to even it up.

What would make me laugh is if the FA decide that Villa have to play at Wembley without any fans as a punishment for the invasion. It'll never happen due to financial loss. But maybe limit it to half the allocation and season ticket holders only.

You reckon it was only none season ticket holders?

So we have now seen Villa fans with cut heads etc from the seats thrown at them, the Baggies fans trashing the stadium behind the stands...... And to top it all, a Watford fan killed in trouble with Wolves today really bad weekend for fans behavior

I don't know re season tickets. When the first invasion happened the Villa supporters were booing them. So I assume the longer standing more dedicated fans will want to see the perpetrators gotten rid of. I guess they knew that if they didn't leave the pitch the gam might have been abandoned and a replay!

I assume that WBA will also be helping the local Police to identify their culprits and they will be banned for life as well.

Whilst I'm appalled at moronic fellow supporters getting on the pitch, especially during normal time but also at the end (you'd think we'd won the bloody thing, not got in the semis to inevitably lose to Arsenal or Man U), the blame for this has got to be laid squarely with those who decided that a 5:30pm Saturday kick-off in a local derby cup game was anything other than a recipe for disaster.

"Yeah, several thousand pissed-up partisan loons in the pub for several hours beforehand, won't be a problem ..." Am actually amazed that Plod gave that KO time the green light.

Yes and No.
The people running on the pitch, drunk or not, are responsible for their own behaviour.

Plod don't have a veto on k.o. times. They can only make representations.

Agreed that putting this game on 6 hours after opening time was not an act of genius. Some of the pitch invaders were clearly staggering a bit. Very lucky none of the Baggies players got hurt.

Agreed, but (sadly) any sense of responsibility tends to go out of the window when the hard-of-thinking have been in Wetherspoons since opening! smile

As for this bloke, there are no words!

Indeed. I believe plod are now saying 'I told you so'.

Late kick-offs for local derbies really are a bad idea. Should have been a lunchtime game this.

I think Sherwood will do an excellent job at the Villa, I know a lot of spurs fans will say i'm talking rubbish, but there is little doubt that Kane, Benteleb & Mason whom are first choice regulars for us would probably have been nowhere near the starting XI if it hadn't been for him.

He says what he thinks & seems an honest kind of chap & i think he will get lots more out of the players than you're last chap.

I hope he does well.

I'm impressed with Sherwood's *genius* tactic that, if you attack the other team, instead of endlessly passing the ball sideways/backwards, you might just win a game of football against teams in the same division as you. Unbelievable Jeff! rolleyes

That may be, but Lambert wasn't managing it. If the simplicity works, stick with it. More tests to come but as a fan you can't help but feel optimistic.

Gosh, that was a game wasn't it?
My first visit to Villa Park this year. Benteke was on fire in the first half & Villa should have been at least 3 goals up before half time. Richardson was bloody awful & we'll need to tighten up. We SHOULD stay up but it'll be tight

Very disappointed that we, (QPR) couldn't hold on for all 3 points, although having Benteke in my dream team helped soften the blow a little.

Nice easy game at home against Chelsea next for us, hopefully we'll both stay up.
