So disappointing to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory!

Dunno what Sherwood was thinking sub'ing Gil, was having a good game, just scored a corker ... OFF! rolleyes
Schlupp was dominating him when Leicester were attacking. Hutton should have been the sub for Gil IMO, pushing Bacuna into RM.

Give Tactics Tim his due there, the substitutions worked well. Thank gawd for that, small mercies etc, there is much to do to sort this new squad into a coherent unit, but still pleased with the second half (Mrs Champers is a blue nose) biggrin

Always a pleasure to hear Small Heath singing a rousing chorus of 'st On The Villa' ... right as we pop up and score! smile

Well that escalated quickly .... Remi Garde in the frame as favourite to replace Sherwood.

I feel the writing is on the wall now and relegation beckons, whoever comes in. The squad just does not have enough PL quality t owin enough games inthe remainder of the season.

Lerner was the great white hope when he arrived. Most fans I know now just see his as desperate to get his money back but seemingly oblivious that we are heading straight for the Championship.

I fear you're right. Having flirted with the Drop for the past few years, I think this season is probably one flirtation too many and it's beyond saving at this point.

I'm certainly no cheerleader for Lerner but I can't help but think he gets unfairly blamed by large sections of the fans. He hasn't stinted on making money available over the years, and it's rather understandable that he's had enough and is trying to sell. I suppose perhaps he might be open to criticism for not making more effort to sell - including selling at a lower price - but then it's easy to say that when it's not you being asked to swallow another £10-20 million loss on top of whatever he has spent to date.

I do agree we need a new owner. I'm far from convinced that that will have the impact that a lot of people seem to think it will.

Rock bottom and I doubt we'll be moving any time soon. I wish Allardyce waited a few weeks, although it's clear to see that the potential with the Sunderland squad was greater than with ours in all honesty.

We're confined to a season of long balls to Rudy and hoping to snatch points. I don't even see it as a confidence issue with the players, there's a lack a quality in every single position. Of the available candidates I want Moyes, but I couldn't see it happening even before Remi Garde became the heavy favourite.

I don't think Moyes could be persuaded to give up his job at Sociadad to go to Villa at the moment, but there are decent managers available in the form of Pearson and Rodgers who would probably jump at the chance. I think appointing Garde represents a massive risk, don't get it but good luck, I would not like to see Villa go down.

Hated by Olympique Lyonnais fans even when they were doing better than average...

Sociedad fans were unhappy with him recently but they've had some good results. I haven't known of Remi Garde until recently, I don't see him or anyone pulling us out of this at the anyway. We'll need big first team investment in January to be honest.

Anyone think avoid relegation is still possible? It's looking rather bleak.

5 points from 14 games = Championship next season

We've flirted with it for five seasons now. Sold our best two players, no effective replacements. I'd say it's all but a certainty.

When O'Neill had his strop and walked out on the eve of the season I had him down has having a stratospheric hissy fit. In hindsight he was right all along, we've been in freefall ever since.

The way it's going I can see us getting relegated from the Chumpionship next season.

No transfer action - not even hearing any rumours.

I guess they've given up hope and prepping for Championship next season.

Depressing.

Even so you'd think preparing for next season is worth doing some business in this window.

I went to West Ham last night, first away game of the season.

It was depressing to watch. Ayew's stupid sending off early on meant that 10 men in an already woeful team were completely ineffectual.

Relegation now just a matter of when. At least we might win some games in the Championship. Might.
