Lambert obviously read my post from a few days ago and took it on board. Benteke benched, Kozak starts and scores and we win against one of the current form teams.

So far so good this December! smile

The 5/1 I got on us winning on Betfair was never in any doubt! smile

Must be a tricky one for Saints fans - we only had 23% possession, don't think I can recall such a low stat and still winning?

I saw Delph's goal on MOTD, an absolute corker. He's having a cracking season, I must admit I had lost faith in him because he arrived in a blaze of publicity but delivered little before this season, not that he was getting much of a run in the team. He's looking infinitely better now, it seems Lambert is allowing him to play his more natural game now, rather than doing a job he wasn't cut out to do.

I almost went last night, alas my last train back was a problem so gave it a miss, am disappointed not to have been there. Hopefully a similar result at Fulham on Sunday, I will be at that one.

Normal service well and truly established today. Utter rubbish. FFS!

1 point from 6 against bottom dwellers in the past few games. We'll be joining them down there come the end of the season if that sort of form continues.

Today I think Lambert got the tactics and line up all wrong. Never mind though onwards and upwards we are getting better in so many other ways.

A team cannot be worried if last season they were close to relegation and this season so far they're only 3 points off Man U.

We played two teams with new managers in a week, they were always going to be that extra bit tough. I'll only be worried if the rest of the Christmas games this year go like they did last year.

positives from my vantage point in the Putney end yesterday that Herd put in a solid performance and Baker played well, he is somebody who is yet to impress me.

Tonev is frustrating to watch, he's got great ball control and likes to run at players (good) but he always, always insists on trying to shoot from an impossible position, thereby conceding possession and undoing all his good work. Anyone know the Bulgarian for "lay it off"?

I think we were undone by a team who've been on a terrible run, but their new manager has come in and completely changed their team, got them very organised and they played well, not representative of their League position. BY comparison we don't look organised and I can only expect a thumping at home to Man U on Sunday, even with their own poor form taken into account. Moyes will get it right soon, and I have a bad feeling that may start against us.

In lambert we trust.

He did say he wasn't bothered about the cup. his choice of keeper showed that.

If we are playing premier league football next season then Lambert did the right thing.

Neutral .Not long for Lambert now.His youth experiment is not working.Villa should be aiming higher than avoiding relegation.Good enough to avoid the Big R ... but i fear an open top bus.....

Fielding a heavily weakened team in the FA Cup has no bearing on league position and performance. I'm not bothered one bit by losing, I'd prefer that than a replay and I'd have shrugged my shoulders if we got through today.

A few days ago we got a vital away win and a clean sheet. In the next few weeks Lambert will sign a few and flog on the dead wood and we'll be in a position to continue our mediocre league form that will see us safe.

We're currently in 11th, 6 points from the drop zone and there's plenty of clubs below us in a far worse position. Sunderland have changed manager and are still struggling big time, as are Fulham. West Brom are Under caretaker management and West Ham can't find a striker in their squad.

It's nothing unusual for us to lose against lower league opposition, look at the Bradford loss last year, we're used to it and I fully support Lambert.

not at all surprised that we lost, the third round has traditionally been a hurdle for us, good luck to The Blades.

Frankly we don't need the extra games, it will be another scrap this season to avoid relegation, although probably not as close as last season. I'm expecting to finish about 14th.

I don't think Lambert is the man for the job. We've got a couple of key players (Guzan, Delph, Gabby, Benteke - when interested) holding the whole thing together, without them we're a Championship team. Everyone else Lambert has bought in just doesn't seem up to the job. Meanwhile, I see Bent scored again yesterday ... rolleyes

Probably neither, I think Chris Hughton is more likely to go than those two.

Allardyce has a lot of players missing and he has a good relationship with his board. If they were to go down, who better to get them back up?

Villa are sitting in 11th position. Home form is absolutely terrible and the squad looks a bit thin as it is. They need recruitments and as we're nearly half way through January unless someone is lined up and in charge within the next few days they'll have no chance of signing the right players.

I was amazed to read the other day that Lambert is the 5th longest serving Premiership manager - and he's only been in the job 18 months or so!

It's not that amazing when you stop and think about it, I suppose. It does speak volumes about the current climate in top tier football and just how little time managers get....

I'm no fan of Man United but I hope the Powers That Be there are sensible enough to give Moyes a fair crack of the whip and time to improve things.

I think Lambert will see this season out, we'll see where we go from there.

Personally I'd prefer to see the back of CEO Paul Faulkner. An MBNA middle-manager made good, with no apparent skills for the job promoted to the highest level of his incompetence, a finer example of The Peter Principle I'm yet to know, he's the Smithers to Randy Lerner's Monty Burns. Things started going very badly downhill at Villa when he arrived, the two things are not unrelated.

Who are the decent honest football supporters you speak of?
