Had an interesting conversation in the pub tonight while watching the game. I think Leicester should sell Mahrez this summer while his stock is high.

I think tonight's performance showed him in his true light, a creative player who offers hardly anything defensively and only occasionally offensively. He won some freekicks but could have created goals had he released the ball at the right moment rather than continue and 'buy' the foul. I think this season he's 'wowed' the fans as an unknown, but next season he'll be marked out of every game like he was tonight.

Thoughts?

I don't post much on here these days, but I'll say this.

I'm a season ticket holder and I do every away game, you said you had a chat in a pub.

Says it all really. You don't know a lot about the beautiful game if you think we should sell him on your analysis that I've deleted from your quite.

I'm not here to argue, we've had the season of seasons, no one can take that away and no one in a pub who hasn't seen our champions in the flesh has a right to say a player isn't that good.

I've always said, if you're not at the game, you can't comment as all you're seeing is what the to editor wants you to see.

That's all, enjoy your arm chair views with your pal. Good day.

I don't normally post on other teams forums but I read this and had to.
Now I'm not going to disagree or agree with the original point but to suggest that you have to go to the game to have a valid opinion is pure rubbish.
One of the great things about being at a game is that you're generally surrounded by many thousand referees who are much more experienced than the bloke right in the thick of the action, so you always have a well informed opinion on any decisions. Also your take on the game is never swayed by the partisan voices around you. How anyone sat at home watching a live match with multiple, close action cameras and replays can get a better view of what actually goes on is beyond me rolleyes

We can give him the benefit of the doubt regarding Mahrez, he was more than likely drunk when written the post.

I think you hit a nerve with Promisedland. biggrin

Although I do agree unless you are at the game you can't really see what a player is really like, sometimes it is what a player does off the ball/camera that males them a true team player and a great player.

I didn't say he should be sold on my analysis

I'm not here to argue either, I just wondered if others shared my thoughts. I posted hoping to hear other opinions on it and perhaps to be enlightened to something I may have missed. I also didn't say he "isn't that good"

What a player does on the pitch isn't all he's judged on. To say if i'm not at the game I can't have an informed opinion is ridiculous.

My point is, should Leicester sell him while his stock is high? In my opinion, he will add little to the team next year despite having a phenomenal season this year.

Ok, maybe I went a bit OTT with my reply, but on tv you cannot see everything a player does on the park.

Have a look at goals, assists, passes etc he has made this season, he's a gem like Vardy, Kante, Fuchs, the list is endless.

Why sell him? The owners aren't after money they have said that, we've just done the most incredible thing by winning the league against all odds, they will be rolling in money.

Why will he add little next year? Are they going to tie his boot laces together and put a patch over one eye and make him walk on his hands?

He will only improve, yes sometimes it's frustating watching him take on the world when he could pass it, but come on, the Etihad, Swansea, Vicarage road, Selhurst Park, the man's a genius, I could go on but I'll leave it there.

I don't mean sell him by actively putting him on the market, rather if a big offer comes in, should they let him go or dig in and do their best to keep him? I just think the last few games a lot of teams seem to have effectively neutralised his brilliance, will he kick on and improve to overcome this setback? or as I think will happen, prove to be a one season wonder and fade away, like Knockeart did.

One thing is for sure - this season has been literally unbelievable - but next season will be absolutely fascinating.....I think all the "big" teams (and everybody else!) underestimated Leicester...... until it was too late!! But now, obviously, all the teams, will be gunning for "The Champions" from the beginning of the season.teacher

Soft pen though wasn't it, but I suppose we've had a few ourselves this season.

Good end to the season like you say.

I took the day off work to take my Dad, he's 73 and has supported them since 1952! We had an amazing day, got there at 1pm and only got home half an hour ago.

He's the one with the scarf, a very special day out with him that I will never forget biggrin
